Qin Gengxin slowly raised his finger to his mouth, indicating that the middle-aged woman should be silent. The woman closed her mouth and went back inside. Still, she left the door crack to avoid the corridor becoming too dark.

Xian Guiying usually taught her daughter to be independent and Qin Wenqian rarely slept in her arms. But that night, she really wanted to hug her daughter, so Qin Wenqian slept soundly in her mother's arms.

The next morning, Xian Guiying prepared to send her daughter to kindergarten. After having breakfast with the child, she put on a thin coat on her and then pulled the little girl along as she pushed open the door.

When she opened the door, she immediately saw a tall and thin figure standing in front of her, causing her hands to stiffened. Because Qin Wenqian was behind Xian Guiying, she couldn't see her father.

Xian Guiying subconsciously wanted to close the door.

Qin Gengxin's gaze hurriedly fell to her body. His shoulders appeared to be covered with a layer of wet morning frost, as Wuyuan was very cold in the morning. It was clear that he had been standing here all night.

Just when Xian Guiying was about to pull her daughter away, his gaze had already landed on the little girl, who was beside her legs.

Qin Wenqian tilted her head. She didn't see anyone outside the door. When she saw her mother pushing her back, she instinctively turned her head to look in the direction her mother was looking. When she saw Gengxin's face, she blinked in confusion.

”Mommy, is this uncle looking for you?” Qin Wenqian asked with a smile.

The word ”uncle” caused Qin Gengxin, who didn't want to scare his daughter, to freeze.

Xian Guiying initially planned to close the door, but since Qin Wenqian had already seen him, even if the door were closed, the little girl would ask a lot of questions.

Qin Wenqian immediately looked at Qin Gengxin with a smile, ”Uncle, my mother wants to send me to kindergarten. We can't get out while you're standing in the doorway!”

Xian Guiying didn't look at Qin Gengxin even when she felt his gaze on her. Instead, she held Qin Wenqian's school bag in another hand, pushed Qin Gengxin away and closed the door, walking away with her daughter.

”She doesn't remember me?” Qin Gengxin was still standing in the same place, not moving. He spoke in a low, deep, slightly hoarse voice.

Xian Guiying only paused for a moment before leading her daughter down the stairs.

Qin Wenqian blinked as she looked behind her and waved her hand. ”Goodbye, uncle!”

Xian Guiying remained silent and bent down to pick up her daughter.

Just as she was about to pick up her daughter, Qin Gengxin immediately walked over and said softly, ”Qianqian.”

Qin Wenqian didn't expect this 'uncle' to know her name. She giggled and bared her white teeth. ”Uncle, do you know me?”

”Qianqian, it's me, your daddy.” Qin Gengxin suddenly felt that all the strength in his body was gone in the blink of an eye. He could only hold back for a moment to let his daughter feel the warmth of his smile as he raised his hand to touch her head.

The word ”daddy” instantly filled Qin Wenqian's smiling eyes with fear. When his hand was about to touch her head, she backed away and hid next to Xian Guiying's leg. Her eyes turned red and she called out in a low voice, ”Mommy.”

Knowing that her daughter would act like this when she heard the words' daddy', Xian Guiying stood in place and looked coldly at the confused Qin Gengxin.

”Mommy!” Seeing that her mother ignored her, Qin Wenqian suddenly cried while hugging her legs.

”Qianqian.” Qin Wenqian's scared expression startled Qin Gengxin. He wanted to hug his daughter, but Xian Guiying immediately brought her daughter to her arms and patted her daughter's back gently as she walked away.

”Guiying!” Qin Gengxin frowned slightly and grabbed her arm. ”What exactly happened? Why doesn't she recognize me?”
