34 GTFO Please (2/2)

We spoke with a soft whisper that was only audible to us. It wasn't that quiet of a voice because the walls were quite good at cancelling out noise. Because of this, we were able to converse quite normally.

I stretched my back and sat down on my computer chair. I pressed the button to turn on my PC and then proceeded to spin around on my computer chair as I waited for the machine to turn on. After about a few seconds, the monitor lit up. I had picked out this PC a year ago because of its relatively high specs when compared to other PCs. Therefore, I wasn't that surprised by the fast boot up time.

”So,” Emilia said to me. ”Who is it?”

”Loriana's coworker,” I said without turning my eyes away from the monitor screen as I opened the web browser Gooogle Chrome.

”It seems that something's bothering you about that person,” Emilia concluded. ”Is it a man?”

”Yeah,” I responded in a somewhat irritated voice.

”Does it happen to be someone whose memory you had altered?”

”...” I paused what I was doing and just sat there, staring at my PC monitor.

”Did the course of events not go in your liking?” Emilia then asked.

”Something like that.”

I sighed and turned the chair so that I was looking at Emilia. I observed that pretty face of hers that emitted a mysterious aura, once again accepting the fact that I wasn't able to see through her light violet eyes and see whatever it was that she was thinking. She's just so mysterious to me. Like what does she do on her spare time? What was she doing a few moments earlier when I was outside and talking to Loriana? Did she for real just sit here and stare into empty space?

”What were you doing when I was out there?” I asked.

I was genuinely curious as to what an angel would do in their free time. Like it must be something that's super holy or something, or else what's the difference between angels and humans? Well...I did see God play video games...and that this world that I live in is just his school project...So I shouldn't get my hopes too high.

She appeared quite surprised that I had inquired her about what she was doing. However, she still showed me without much complaints. She revealed to me that she was, in fact, on her phone like any other human being.

”Why is it that I'm not surprised at all?” I sighed and buried my face into my left palm. ”I shouldn't be expecting much from you divines from now on.”

”Why's that?”

”Because you're on your phone,” I explained to her my disappointment. ”I thought you angels would be different from us humans.”

”Well...” Emilia looked quite shameful after hearing my expectations for her kind.

”Forget it.”

I sighed and rested my head against my computer desk. I gazed out the sliding glass door in my room that led to my balcony and at the city outside. I had intentionally not draw the curtains all the way so that I could always catch a glimpse of the beautiful nighttime skyline outdoors.

”You're not in a good mood?” She set her phone down on my bed, got up, and walked to the computer desk so that she leaned over me.

”I don't know.” I let out a sigh. ”It's just that...I don't even know what o do anymore. Because I haven't seen Loriana for almost two days, I thought that I was able to put down the guilt now. But when I see her I still...I still can't forget what I had done to her. I had taken advantage of her when she's not conscious...”

”...” Emilia stood there and listened to me in silence.

”What should I do?” I ran my hands through my hair. ”I don't even know.”

”You must treasure her a lot if it's making you have such a deep internal conflict,” Emilia chuckled.

I looked over at her and discovered that she was lifting the curtains to the side and stared out the sliding glass door and at the skyline outside. From my angle, the glass door reflected her face, and within the reflection I saw a sense of sadness like the one I had seen a day earlier in her.

Looks like Emilia has a past of herself that troubles her. Well...it's not in my position to ask to help her, so...I think I'll just keep quiet.

”I'm feeling quite thirsty,” I said to her. ”So I'll be leaving to grab me some water. Would you like one?”

”Sure,” she smiled.

I exited the room and turned in the direction of the living room. My destination was kitchen refrigerator, which harbored the water jug. To get there I will have to pass by the living room where Markus and Loriana was located at. I sighed as I realized that although this journey will be short, it will also be quite long at the same time.

I emerged from the hallway and into the living room. There, I saw that Loriana and Markus were both sitting on the couch. They sat quite close to each other, which made me quite irritated that they were doing so.

Get the hell away from her. I wanted to tell him that, but since Loriana didn't express any visible distaste, I suppressed that urge and continued on with my journey.

I passed by them without drawing much attention to myself except from a casual glance from Markus as he checked to see who it was. I opened the fridge door, grabbed the water jug, and proceeded to pour myself a glass of water.

Because it will look suspicious if I return to my room with two glasses of water, I need a way to get water to Emilia while satisfying my own thirst. I gazed at the glass of water that I held in my hands, watching the reflection of the ceiling light that casted within it. Then, without much thought, I drank the whole thing and began to pour myself a new glass.

This is the way to go. I satisfy my own thirst by drinking the water here, and then I can bring one glass of water with me back to my room for Emilia to use. That does not look suspicious at all.

As I began walking towards my room, I caught a glimpse of Loriana and Markus. Because of this, I decided that I would linger about a bit longer to make sure that he didn't try anything weird. I leaned my back against the wall and watched them, Markus particularly since he's the danger here.

He probably noticed my surveillance since he started fidgeting around even more in his seat. He uneasily peered over at me, and I returned the gaze by looking him straight in the eye with my emotionless irises. That seemed to have scared him since he immediately looked away. He checked his phone for the time and with a sigh, he looked over at Loriana.

”It's getting quite late now so I think I should go,” he said with a polite smile. ”Thanks for letting me come up and sit for a bit.”

”You're leaving? Let me walk you to the door,” Loriana suggested.

”Well...” Markus glanced over at me as if seeking permission. However, it would appear that he did not see yes written on my face so he politely rejected Loriana's suggestion. ”I'm fine. I know my way out.”

”Alright then,” Loriana got up from her seat and saw Markus to the front door of our house. ”See you Monday.”

”You too.” Markus then slightly bowed his head and went off on his way towards the elevators.

That's right. Get off my property.

I concealed a faint grin as I leaned against the wall, feeling much better now that he's gone.
