42 Riding together in a Nori (1/2)

They checked the herb garden while waiting for their ride.

Helen looked disheveled and unkempt. Her hair was sticky and her face was oily. The bottom of her skirt which was beige in color looked brown and muddy.

[ what was this woman doing plowing with her type A uniform?] Henry thought.

Helen looked like a princess who was sold as a slave. It never occured to her that she needed to change her clothes to work.

When Henry told her that she felt really stupid. That was the reason why it was hard to move around. Helen told them that Francis did not helped her in plowing. Francis immediately replied that it was her turn to plow. They started to argue again. At the back of Henry's mind, he was already thankful that Francis stayed to guard her. With the weakest spiritual power, she might die easily if shadows were to return unexpectedly.

Helen was just about to hug Madel when Francis caught the hem of her dress and pulled her towards him.

”Don't spread your germs and ugliness Helen” Francis smiled as he covered Helen's face with a cloth and started wiping in an ungentle manner. She was stunned.

[did he just wiped away my sweat?]

”See? Yuck” Francis said as he waved the handkerchief towards Henry. Another round of teasing came.

”by the way we will got to the Golihan Mansion to deliver something.” Henry interrupted.

”Really? That's too far, it will take you more than 2 hours even if you ride on the fastest beast in the country” Helen answered.

Her statement caught his attention. It will take them more than two hours even if they ride on the fastest beast in the country. Earlier Madel insisted that it will take them more than two hours to deliver the flowers.

[Does that mean that….] Henry dismissed the idea of riding the fastest beast in the country. [where will she get one?] He smiled at such thought. Turning his back, he saw a white fury Nori. It resembled a dog but its body built is as tall as a horse. The white fur of Nori is long which was touching the ground and covering its eyes. Its white long ears are hanging downwards.

Nori was one of the rare creatures who are famous for their speed and ability to detect scent. Adjacent kingdoms are racing them as royal pets. An adult Nori can grow as tall as 10 feet which means that the Nori which was running towards them is Goji (pertaining to young Nori).

While Henry was in awe, Francis became alert. The beast was running towards them and it was going straight towards Madel. The smile on her face disappeared as Francis stepped forward and raised his fist. He used the power of inertia to knock the beast down. Just as he pummeled one beast another beast came. Seeing what happened to its comrade it slowed down with a cautious yet angry look towards Francis.

Madel immediately knelt and caressed the sleeping Nori.

”oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. Are you ok Nini?” she almost cried.

A troubled look appeared on Francis's face as he saw Madel's reaction.

[She knew that thing?] He then looked at the approaching beast walking cautiously towards them.

Henry and Helen understood the situation well. It was their ride to the Golihan Mansion. With one of the rides knocked down, it was either he stayed or they ride the remaining nori together. Helen's imagination was immediately activated. Madel was riding in front while Henry was sitting at the back hugging her waist.
