32 Reclaim Human Self (1/2)
”Sweetheart, are you hearing yourself? Why would I wait for you for thousands of years, build you this home that's tighter than Fort Knox to secure you to me forever if I'm not sure about my feelings for you. Rekindle our love? Seriously?” Ivano glared down at me. ”I've sworn off Katherine from my life and yet now I'm thinking of touching her again even if it disgusts me all because I want to be with you. I thought that will sound romantic. But why are you thinking crazy things?” Ivano shook his head in disbelief.
”Well, that's called jealousy ok?” I snapped at him because he made me feel stupid. ”You can't actually blame me for feeling this way. I witnessed how in love you were with her before.”
”That's right. Before. Not now. Never. It's all just you now. And for always.” Ivano gave me a lingering kiss before brushing his thumbs over my cheeks. ”Now, I actually don't have any idea how succubus operates. But after being the warlock's protégé for quite some time, I somehow knew a few things. So I'll just play this by ear. I believe Katherine can't hear us right now. She actually hasn't developed her full potential as a succubus. I think she needs to offer herself first to the higher dark lord for initiation before she can start preying on to sleepers.”
”How come this certain dark lord hasn't come to get her from you?”
”Her soul and body are still intact and the dark lord only needs her soul which was what she made a bargain for. Katherine hung herself and she was still breathing with weak pulse when I took her.”
”She lived until now?” I couldn't help but exclaimed my disbelief. ”That's been what, more than hundred years ago! Are you sure she didn't turn into a vampire instead?”
”No, she's a succubus. She developed immediate claws and serpentine tail when I last saw her before I and the old warlock locked her up in the dungeon. And yes, she's still alive right now or at least her soul that's trapped in her dead body.”
I frowned at what I noticed from his stories. ”You keep talking about the old warlock. I though he died right after the transfusion?”
”I didn't let him give me all of his blood. That's the only favor I asked him when I finally surrendered my soul to him. He was tired but when I told him that I've got battles in my hand some day and will be needing his power, he agreed. A little action other than drifting from one place to another might actually what he needed to light up his boring undead life. The old man was nice for a vampire.”
”So where's he now?”
”Yeah, about that.” Ivano grinned at me. ”I already called Kevin and informed him you're safe.”
