I inwardly sighed as I saw Neo grabbed the chair his cousin is currently holding and sat on it without uttering a word. Juaquin shook his head helplessly as he sat at the vacant chair near him.
I sensed a killing intent directed at me so I swiftly moved my head to look at its direction. I saw Miss A drinking a glass of water. She then noticed that I was looking at her, she then smiled sweetly at me as she gently placed the glass of water on top of the table.
”Miss Tan-- uhm can I call you Elrae? A friend of Kei is also a friend of mine. I am sorry about what happened in the hallway. It was my fault for interferring in your business. You can call me Ashly. I'm Kei's childhood friend. The uhm... nerd with fake reading glasses.” Miss A said in a sincere tone of voice.
I looked at her and compared her appearance when I saw her in the campus. I must admit that she really did a good job on disguising her true appearance. Is she perhaps in a secret mission? Her long straight black hair is currently tied into a simple ponytail. I can clearly see that she only put a small amount of make up on her face but it was more than enough to show her unique charm. Her look today is quite contradicting compared to her messy pigtail hairstyle and thick rimmed eyeglasses that magically hides her beautiful almond shaped eyes.
It's not only her look that changed though. Her manner and way of speaking is also different. She is acting just like a white lotus that historical novels often mention. Her gentleness and innocent vibe is far from the Miss A in school who has been monitoring me non-stop for the last two weeks like a determined jail officer.
I inwardly sighed at the thought of meeting a young future actress. She should just go audition now while she is still young.
”Uhm, Elrae?” a warm sweet voice jolted me back to reality. Oh, right I blank out for a second.
I smiled at Miss A as I said ”Hmmm... I was just thinking about what I should order.”
An awkward silence then engulfed our table after I said those words. 'pfft' I heard Fei giggle in her seat. She is trying to stop herself from laughing but failed to do so. Juaquin on the other hand chuckled for a second but then quickly regained his composure, a bright smile showing his white model perfect teeth is now plastered on his face as he looked at me with interest. Neo, the iceberg slash demon king, didn't have much of a reaction. He only raised his hand calling the waiter's attention and bringing the menu to our table.
”Ah, I'm sorry I got carried away and forgot that we haven't ordered anything yet. We actually just arrived when Fei noticed Kei.” Miss A said.
”No need to apologise, Miss Shen.” I courteously said to her. Why does she keep on apologising? Is she that guilty that every sentence she says should start with the word 'im sorry'?
”You can just call me Ashly or Ash. Were friends now right?” she said those words naturally. She is staring at me with those beautiful almond shaped eyes of hers, hopeful that I will agree to her.
”Me too. I also wanna be your friend.” Fei said with excitement in her voice.
I can see Neo's nonchalant expression through my peripheral vision. I was internally debating with myself the course of action I should take. I can't just accept on a whim their offer of friendship. They can be called as one of my acquaintances but not my friends. I treasure the word friend because there are only a few who can actually enter my world and call me 'friend'.
I was saved by the bell when the waiter came to us carrying the menu with him. After ordering, I excused myself to go to the ladies room. Since I am only wearing a tattered jeans and a T-shirt, the other guests couldn't help but stare at me.
I don't really mind if they accuse me of being out of place, the important thing is that Neo pays for the bill. It is more embarrassing and scandalous if we ate and run right?
I was about to leave the ladies room when I saw a lady wearing an off-white dress leaning by the lavatory in front of the cubicle that I used. Her long black hair is hanging lifelessly in front of her face making me unable to recognize her. I was about to slip away when that woman suddenly tilted her head looking at me with those red eyes of her.
