61 Set-up (1/2)
I was about to say something when i suddenly heard my mother's voice. She is cheerfully conversing with someone as they enter the dining area. Everyone in the room, including Neo, turned to look at the entry way. My whole body stiffened when three figures slowly entered the room. Father is walking ahead of the other two. As usual he have that indifferent expression plastered on that handsome face of his. He is wearing a faded casual blue jean and a v-neck mint green shirt. He coolly walked towards the table with both of his hands tucked inside his jean's pocket.
Mother have a happy and satisfied expression on her face as she linked arms with the young man walking beside her. She is now wearing a baby blue t-shirt and a knee length denim pants. Her chestnut colored hair tied in a simple ponytail.
The young man beside her also have a happy expression on his face but his smile did not reach his eyes as he respectfully agree to whatever my mother is saying to him at the moment. The young man is wearing a black round neck t-shirt partnered with a tattered faded blue jeans. He is holding a black leather jacket on his right hand. Judging by his slightly messy hair, I can conclude that he must have ridden a motorbike on his way here.
When mom saw us, she deliberately pulled on the young mans arm. ”Qian honey, is this the guy you mentioned this morning?” Mother asked as they walk closer.
Qian acted as the host as he introduces 'his' visitor to our mother. ”Mom, this is Neo Kei Yuan from the Yuan Clan.”
”Oh dear, I didn't expect to see Young Master Yuan here in our poor abode.” mom said.
”I am honored to meet you Mrs. Tan. I thank you for welcoming me into your home.” Neo respectfully said as he bowed in greeting to my mother. Father on the other hand didn't mind what was happening around him as he read the X city's local newspaper.
”Who said you're welcome here?” I mumbled to myself. Unfortunately, the volume of my voice was not low enough enabling the person beside me to hear what I just said. Qian is right beside me so he definitely heard me. He only raised an eyebrow at me but did not say a word.
”By the way, this is Vincent Gu the second son of the Gu family.” mother said as she introduced Vincent to Neo.
This is not what I expected. I did not expect mother to actually invite Vincent over for dinner and this so called best friend of mine did not even call me to at least let me know ahead of time. Vincent being here is not that surprising but Neo being here never even crossed my mind. Why did I not know that my brother is going to invite someone for dinner and that someone is actually Neo??! Since when where they acquainted??!!
”Mother Z, Neo is actually my classmate in Xin City High.” Vincent said in a clear warm voice. He elegantly offered his right hand to shake hands with Neo after he slung his black leather jacket onto his shoulder.
”Fancy meeting you here.” Neo said as he shakes hand with Vincent.
