Chapter 1364 - The Miserable Sanguine Alliance (1/2)
In the online gaming world, humans have naturally transitioned their need for social connections into a concept called a guild.
The larger the guild, the stronger it becomes. Sanguine Alliance’s strength was based on their vast membership.
However, it was not always the case of membership translating into guild strength.
After all, these players were ordinary players and not professionally trained military soldiers. When there were more people, the group would become bloated. The quality of the players would be uneven, resulting in lower standards of discipline…
If the opponent was just a small group of common players, a larger guild could swiftly defeat them with superior numbers. However, if it was a professional group like Assassin Monarch, it seemed more like the case of a lion trying to kill a mosquito.
Assassin Monarch could inflict a small degree of pain on Sanguine Alliance if they wanted to.
Of course, this was not to say that the larger guild had no way of dealing with the smaller one. It was just a matter of whether it was worth the effort or not.
As the saying went, the man who is barefoot is not afraid to wear another who is wearing shoes.
If Assassin Monarch were to attack Sanguine Alliance, there was little opportunity cost on their part but a lot more to gain if their attacks were successful.
Compared to the players from Sanguine Alliance who had their own daily responsibilities and tasks to run the guild. In the event that Sanguine Alliance had to mobilise their manpower, it would derail the smooth running of the guild. That was the true loss for them…
Moreover, these guys were all Assassins… They could strike at will and hide when the odds were against them. Against such slippery opponents, it was not worth it for Sanguine Alliance to spend resources to deal with them. They were in an awkward situation.
Thinking about it, the last small guild that Sanguine Alliance provoked was the Quan Zhen Sect…
Sanguine Warflag naturally did not grasp the intricacies of the matter. He had a complicated expression on his face as he turned towards Fearless.
Sanguine Warflag was dragged as an innocent bystander into a war.
This was a conflict originally only between Assassin Monarch and Quan Zhen Sect. However, Sanguine Alliance was somehow dragged into the mud with them… even if it was out of their control.
Under this sort of situation, either side that Sanguine Warflag chose to side with meant that he would have to offend the other.
Could he really afford to offend the Quan Zhen Sect? Antagonising Assassin Monarch might bring him a lot of problems in the short run but these could easily be resolved if he activated his experts. However, if he dared to offend the Quan Zhen Sect, he could wait to collect his own corpse.
Sanguine Warflag was not so charitable to shoulder the burdens of others. It was because of Quan Zhen Sect that his Sanguine Alliance had to offend another guild. If the players from Quan Zhen Sect did not offer their help in this matter, it was too self-centred of them.
Sanguine Warflag contemplated for a brief moment before saying, “Brother Fearless, this matter resulted from you guys and it has implicated my Sanguine Alliance.”
“I know!” Fearless replied straightly, “Don’t worry, there is a massive city gate blockade. The Assassin Monarch would not dare to kill people indiscriminately!”
“Is that the case?” Sanguine Warflag continued probing, “Those guys have a very fearsome reputation. They even dared to stand up against Iron Bull. Is there anything they would not dare to do?”
“Nonsense!” Wang Yu interjected from the side, “As long as the PK reaches a certain threshold, the perpetrators will be chased down by the city guards. Since the city gates are now closed, attacking within the city will only lead to their deaths! Is this your first day playing the game?”
“F*ck…”
Sanguine Warflag was speechless. In his stupor, he actually forgot to consider this important point. He was a little embarrassed by Wang Yu’s chiding.
