71 The Truth (1/2)

After the rather long 'bath', Mio and I came down to the living room only to see our parents already sitting at the dining table.

”Hey, Yuuji!”

”Huh? Mom? Dad? Why are you here? I thought that you two were on a business trip or something?”

”Ah~ The matter last time got found out by your mother, so I ended up getting dragged back here. Anyway, that was resolved for now. Come have a seat, Yuuji, Mio.”

Accepting the invitation, Mio and I sat on the remaining seats, which were coincidentally next to each other. After what happened in the bathroom, I still don't know how to act around Mio so I tended to avoid her gaze. She is also doing the same thing. Have I known that our parents were coming back, I wouldn't have done that...

On second thought, I might still have done that if I had known they were coming back though...

*Cough* Getting back on track, we both realized that both of our parent's faces were stern and thus we suppressed our embarrassment and asked them,

”Hey dad, why are your faces so stern?”

”Un! Nii-sama is right! Why are you looking so stiff today?”

After a brief silence, it was our mother who spoke up.

”You see, Mio, Yuuji. We believe that it is time that we tell you something.”

Mio and I looked at each other, each knowing what they might be telling us.

”What we want to tell you is that... You two are actually not related by blood.”

Despite already knowing that it still shocked me to a certain degree. After regaining my composure did I continue to ask,

”So... How are we related?”

This time, my parents looked at each other and in the end, my mother urged my father to speak,

”To explain everything... I must tell you a certain story.”

”When I was still a young boy, I had a little sister just like you, Yuuji.”

”I took great care of her since I was a child and assisted her in everything she needed.”

”One day, our parents came up to us and told us that we were actually not related by blood”

”I was, of course, shocked. My sister, on the other hand, wasn't as shocked as I was.”

”From that day on, she was advancing on me more aggressively than before.”

”Wait... don't tell me...”, I interrupted in the middle of the story. Although I don't know why I believe that I know how this story will end.

”Yes, Yuuji. That was how I met your mother.”

...

...

...

””WHAT?!?!””, Mio and I shouted out at the same time.

”Oh dear, that was embarrassing.”

”Oh come on, I still remember you calling me 'Nii-sama' just like it was yesterday, Minori.”

”Don't be like that, Yuuto...”
