3 The long road to school Part 1 (1/2)

On the road to school, we met Hanako, my childhood friend. She always seems to be waiting for us somewhere on the road to school and ”accidentally” meets us, but that might just be my own imagination.

”Good morning Yuuji-kun, Mio-chan”, she said that as she walked up to us.

”Good morning Hanako-san”, I replied.

As she walked closer towards us, Mio suddenly clings onto my right arm and released a threatening aura. She bared her teeth like a cat who was stepped on the tail at Hanako and said,

”Stay away from MY brother!”.

It might just be my imagination, but it felt as if the surrounding temperature just dropped by a few degrees.

”I-I do understand that he's your brother, Mio. But can't I just approach him as his classmate?”, stiffly asked by Hanako.

Mio still seems dissatisfied for some reason, but her feeling of enmity towards Hanako have already lessened.

”Hmph! I better not see you hanging around with MY brother... or else I'll-”

”There, there, Mio. I'm your brother, aren't I? I'll always stay by your side. So smile, okay?”

I patted her head as I was saying that. Suddenly, her face bloomed with a smile. Just like a flower that has just blossomed in spring, her smile radiated the warmth of the sun. A smile like no other. It was as if her smiling face was created by God himself. Only one word could be used to describe it: Flawless.
