Chapter 342 - True Lineage of Maoshan? Don’t Make Me Laugh! (1/2)
Chu Yan’er appeared rather surprised at what Lu Zhengqing just told her.
Celestial Realm fighters were as good as helpless children before Lu Xuan. After all, even cultivators of the Airborne Realm were unable to withstand even a single hit from Lu Xuan.
Then again, that notion did not apply everywhere. Any smaller country with an Airborne Realm cultivator among them in the current era would be considered doing well.
At the moment, common smaller countries were only capable of having three or five beings of such a level among them. As such, Celestial Realm cultivators were still currently considered the best in the world.
Any Celestial Realm fighter would have had almost no problem throwing their weight onto a smaller country. They also still enjoyed a very high social status even in larger countries.
While their actual numbers were not all that low, they were nonetheless still scarce enough that they were only one in a million; that’s considering the world population currently being at seven billion.
It would be a considerably rare occurrence for common folks to run into Celestial Realm fighters in normal circumstances.
Among the Celestial Realm fighters, there was also a difference between those who trained on their own and those who came from renowned clans and sects. All of them were different in many ways as well.
Under normal circumstances, lone cultivators would fare a bit worse than those from renowned clans and sects, as they were already worlds apart even just in terms of the texts and heritages made accessible to them.
The common perception of things at the moment had even gotten to such a point, that many perceive that a Celestial Realm cultivator from renowned clans and sects could take on two Celestial Realm cultivators training solely on their own.
Despite being an overseas organization, the overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect was still of the true lineage of the Maoshan Sect.
It was a common occurrence in those years where war broke out between the two political parties vying for supremacy in the country. Many sects and clans were divided into two branches, with one stationed back home while the other was based overseas.
The overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect was known as a renowned, righteous sect abroad. Countless people tried to become a member of the overseas rite of the sect, but they all failed.
Lu Zhengqing knew that Chu Yan’er had wanted to study under a teacher for so long, yet she did not have the connections to do so. At that moment, what she sought was standing right before her eyes.
“Getting nowhere training through the basic methods, huh? Who said that? The methods are propagated by the Heavenly Palace, and I could just join the Heavenly Palace instead, “Chu Yan’er immediately retorted.
In the past, lone cultivators had little in the way of furthering their training. However, things were now different; such cultivators were given the option to join the Heavenly Palace and learn new methods for furthering their cultivation.
The renowned sects and clans were no longer the number one choice; the Heavenly Palace took its place.
Everyone knew that the Palace Lord of the Heavenly Palace was invincible throughout the world. He had been at the Airborne Realm a very long time ago.
“The Heavenly Palace is nothing compared to the Maoshan Sect.” Lu Zhengqing retorted, feeling vexed. He then continued, “That guy only managed to throw his weight around because he was supported by the government. We of the Maoshan Sect are different; we’re a renowned sect that had been around for at least a millennium.”
Everyone throughout the Maoshan Sect disliked those of the Heavenly Palace. The latter had once invaded their sect and took everyone away, giving them no opportunity to even fight back.
While that had only happened to the local rite of the Maoshan Sect, it seemed to have little to do with the overseas rite. Even so, glories and insults alike were shared among those two rites nonetheless. What happened to the local rite caused the overseas rite to earn the scorn of many people.
Lu Xuan shot a look at Lu Zhengqing upon hearing what he said. He once took out an undead king that belonged to the Maoshan Sect, and the sect had been obedient ever since. It took only a single military governor among the 12 in the Heavenly Palace to put the entire Maoshan Sect in their place.
It got to the point where they even got the old celestial master of the Celestial Master Taoist Sect to take on Lu Xuan. However, Zhang Fashan was as cunning as they came. The old celestial master yielded right after Lu Xuan demonstrated what he was capable of, with no intentions whatsoever to face him head-on.
The Maoshan Sect was utterly humiliated.
Lu Xuan thought little of the resentment Lu Zhengqing held towards him. Countless people all over the world wanted him dead, and Lu Zhengqing was nothing compared to the immense number of people out there. However, there was one thing about Lu Zhengqing that caught his attention: other than the Spiritual Qi fluctuation that was inherent with the true lineage of the Shangqing Mystical Methods practiced by the Maoshan Sect, he had also detected some bit of eerily unpleasant aura about the man.
Lu Xuan paused for a bit and pondered, realizing almost immediately what that unpleasantness was coming from.
His face immediately turned gloomy.
The overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect is the true lineage of the Maoshan Sect?
Don’t make me laugh.
Then again, he had no intention of getting involved with any of that mess.
Chu Yan’er waved dismissively and said, “Thanks, but I’ll pass. Everyone’s got their own thing after all.” It wasn’t that she was less interested in the overseas rite of the Maoshan Sect. Rather, it was more like she did not want to have anything to do with Lu Zhengqing.
