Chapter 84 - Formidable People of the Province Meeting Up (1/2)
“That all happened three days ago. Are you guys sure that the Heirloom Seal of the Realm is still in our borders?” Lu Xuan asked.
Locking down common folks would have been simple, given how they had to get to land transportation hubs, harbors, or airports to get out of the country.
However, those people were all extraordinary top-notch fighters. They would not have needed modes of transportation, as they could have taken jungle paths and still travel at high speeds, which would have been on par with cars. With the country being such a huge place, locating them would have been nearly impossible.
“We’re sure of that,” Yun Sheng replied. “We have specialized trackers leaving a mark behind on the seal, and we can confirm that it is still within our borders. We can even roughly track the route taken by the robbers by tracking the trail left by the seal itself.”
“We’ve determined that the robbers were possibly thinking of bringing the seal to Southern Min and get out to sea from there.” Yun Sheng then continued, “We need to get to them before they go out to sea, or things will get a lot more tricky than expected.”
Lu Xuan completely realized what was going on when he heard that.
Yun Sheng was thinking of hiring him to help cut off those who robbed the seal, keeping them within the country’s borders.
“Noted. Give me their coordinates,” Lu Xuan said.
“There’s no need for that. I’ve sent people to your area, and we’d like you to meet us at once, Mr. Lu,” Yun Sheng, who was on the other end of the phone, said.
Lu Xuan nodded and sent his parents a text. He also had Zhang Hongyang stay behind to protect his family before packing up and leaving right away.
There was a black car waiting for Lu Xuan and the gate of the gated community.
The car went out into the city and then to the mountains, going all the way to the foot of Wuyi mountain before stopping.
At the same time, a group of people dressed for mobility and combat was seen gathered under the moonlight, somewhere in the jungle of the mountain.
All of them wore different attire and stood at different positions, indicating the forces they belonged to.
Lu Xuan would have been able to tell that many were familiar faces if he were present.
All of them were notable figures within the province.
A group of them were dressed in black, and they looked the most forceful. Those were top-notch fighters from the Special Task Force. The two taking the lead were Yun Sheng and the Square-faced Fatso.
Other than that, there was also the Seven Invincible Sect, who was led by Lin Sheng and Chen Chang—the head of the Chen Clan.
While the sect and the clan were not really on good terms, they dared not cause a ruckus at the moment due to the Special Task Force being present. The members of both parties simply glared and scowled at each other, indicating their displeasure.
Other than that, there were also several monks dressed in kasayas. Those monks were different from the professional monks outside, and one would be able to tell that they were ascetics. All of them exuded an extraordinary bearing.
The leader among them looked to be in his forties. He was dressed in the way unique to warrior monks, looking steely and intimidating with his staff in hand.
The group not far away from the aforementioned was a lot messier in comparison. All of them dressed differently, and every single one of them looked aloof and cunning.
The leader among them was a man who had a goatee on his sharp face. His eyes looked narrow and slanted, making him look rather harsh. Yet, there was this shimmer in his eyes seen from time to time, suggesting that he was anything but ordinary.
“Chief Yun, who exactly are we waiting for here? It seems like a big shot to us, bigger than even our boss,” someone from behind that man with a goatee finally asked after waiting for quite some time.
That man with a goatee looked at Yun Sheng and asked, “Chief Yun, I hope you’ll give me an explanation about all this. My time is precious, after all.”
“Indeed. While we don’t mind waiting, letting the thieves get away would be something else altogether. How would I explain myself to the Chief of your headquarters if that happens?” the leader monk added. There was a clear look of displeasure on his face.
That was because they had been waiting for three full hours.
