57 Mans Hear (1/2)
The two strange men walked up to Kansuke, pushing away the countless stream of Gene Elementalists running out of the Virtual Registry Room in fear and shock. They then dropped the box in each of their hands on Kansuke's chest. Both of them seemed to be looking at him like a tiger looks at a piece of meat before it attacks. It freaked Kansuke out enough that he began running really fast, dropping the boxes the two men had given him, and charging out of the Gene Administration Head Quarters in order to go finish registering for his new apartment.
The two men, however, didn't let him run for long before stopping him at the unguarded entranceway. Kansuke had no idea what happened since he'd entered into the Virtual Networks Sector 4, but a haze of smoke could be seen on Main Street outside the turning glass doorways. As for the two old looking men, they were both holding their boxes with sweat dripping down their faces, and were completely worried that the contents inside the boxes had been destroyed.
Kansuke coughed awkwardly trying to get the two strange Gene Elementalists to move, but the two men in contrasting Gene Elementalist capes didn't budge. Instead, they each just took out another pair of boxes and slid them to where Kansuke stood. Hundreds of people showed up behind him wondering what was in the mysterious boxes. However, Kansuke kicked them back before they looked sad and threw more and more treasures his way.
The men finally couldn't remain silent and the one in the black Gene Elementalist Cape spoke up. After making it clear he'd come all the way from Aquatic Temple, the other person indicated he came from Blazing Star School, and he could only choose one set of boxes.
However, Kansuke didn't want to join an academy, and cleared his throat before he pointed down main street towards the First Provisional Tournament Arena that seemed to have been set on fire.
”You two are idiots. How many people are terrified right now because you desire something you can't have?” Kansuke sighed and picked up the two boxes. ”Plus, you two are giving me the same exact presents. Why don't you offer up your granddaughters and perhaps I'll grace them with my offspring?”
”Do you mean the mighty fire in the Azure Arena? We just had a minor competition to see who is the strongest.” One of the men, Brawn, replied, ”However, you can't simply call us idiots Kansuke for desiring such a splendid elementalist. Now, which school will you join, the blazing fire school, or Azure Temple?”
”What else do you have to offer me?” Kansuke said, putting the six black boxes in his storage ring, and wearing an inglorious smile on his face. The vast crowd of onlookers gasped at Kansuke's behavior, and finally recognized the two individuals standing in front of him.
They were two Vice Elders of both the Blazing Fire School, and of Azure Temple, and both had already entered into the Sovereign Gene Elementalist stages. Considering that Kansuke wasn't even a King's Grade Elementalist, seeing these two powerful rivals completely smitten by him made many of the men feel sick and inferior.
Nariko and the librarian, who happened to have logged in through the same port as Kansuke to enter Sector 4 stopped behind him as some of the people in the crowd grew more and more enraged and hostile. Each and everyone of the them couldn't believe the two Vice Elders were digging through their storage rings looking for either a Gene Weapon or Mutated Beast Meat to cajole Kansuke with. He completely just insulted their intelligence, and they weren't even saying anything about it?
Finally, the two Gene Elementalists, Brawn and Logo noticed the stares of the crowd and cleared the doorway so that they could leave into the streets. As for Kansuke, they literally followed him all the way to his new apartment across the street from the Association.
Morine Haru had diligently given up ownership of one of his private pent houses in exchange for Kansuke letting Morine Masu stay with him one day a week. Seeing Kansuke about to disappear into the privacy of his own home, the two Vice Elders once again threw out two more boxes, causing Kansuke to stop and curse them underneath his breath.
”I don't understand. Are you two really that desperate to have me? Are you secretly hiding something in the closet that I'm not aware of?” Kansuke stopped and picked up the black boxes, putting them once again in his storage ring. ”However, I really have to go now. Thank you for all the high grade Mutated Beast Meat.”
Kansuke smiled before opening the door, and preparing to go inside. Morine Haru, on the other hand, walked out and stretched before noticing Kansuke had just moved in right above him. He immediately regretted his decision and could only imagine how many girls would scream in the middle of the night, waking him up from his beauty sleep.
However, he finally noticed the two men haranguing Kansuke and gulped before dropping to his knees in reverence and awe. The two men looked back at him like a little bug before Kansuke sighed and finally turned down their eighteenth gift.
