23 Demon of Purgatorial Flames (1/2)
The master has given his orders so Agiel complied.
Agiel, the Demon of Purgatorial Flames nonchalantly and straightly strode towards the enemy.
He looked to his right where he saw Xelya then he turned his head to the left and saw Sagremor.
This will be too easy for us, so there is no need to worry. Still, that doesn't mean we must lower our guard.
Agiel thought.
The master has said to hold back a lot so that means the enemies are indeed weaklings. The opposition's previous attacks also proved that they pose no threat at all.
This town's demise is assured for their master has said so. No matter how much effort the soldiers give, the ending will be the same.
Their fate has already been sealed since the time the master gave his warning.
A thought crossed Agiel's mind.
Hmmm, I wonder why the master would want us to hold back against them. Won't it be quicker to just annihilate them immediately, but why slowly destroy them?
If the task is to destroy this town, one guardian would be more than enough to handle it. It was proven when the master sent his minions to this town that destroying this town would be a trivial task for a guardian. But for what reason is destroying this town with all guardians and will have to hold back.
Agiel pondered that then he thought.
Could it be a test? A test of strength? Or something else. But it's highly like it's a test. But it doesn't matter, I will follow the creator's command no matter what it is.
Their master has never stated the purpose of assaulting this town. However, judging from the prior actions that their master did like the assault of his minions, it proved that every decision or action the Supreme Being take has a purpose, importance or necessity.
One wouldn't need to understand the wise creator's orders but only to comply even if it means risking one's life.
Lord Xyn has already done something I didn't know and understood. However, it's not a bad idea to learn from him.
Agiel thought.
Agiel would have never known the real reason why his master let his minions lose in the first battle if his master has not explained it. It was then Agiel knew a little more about his master, that his master doesn't tell anyone his plan or thoughts if it is for the purpose of improving them.
It was his master who gave him his great intellect, it is to be expected his creator would also have greater intelligence that surpasses him and do something unexpected.
Well, it does not literally mean his intelligence came from Xyn himself, it's just how Agiel is made – to be smart. Agiel just thought that his master must be smarter than him.
As he walks, Agiel peered unto the soldiers. They don't seem to be doing anything but staring at them. Agiel wondered why but later on he realized the reason, they were consumed by fear.
The soldiers were shaking as they hold their weapons and looking at Agiel with widened eyes looked like they were looking at something far.
It would be good if they are going to let themselves be killed after all the master intended to destroy this town along with its people so letting themselves be killed will be like sacrificing their lives for the supreme one. However, the master does not seem to want them just cower but wanted them to fight back.
If this keeps up, Lord Xyn will be unsatisfied.
Agiel thought.
With that thought in mind, Agiel started to feel slightly irritated.
Inferior beings like humans should live their lives to satisfy the Supreme Being and doing the opposite is only displeasing.
Agiel contemplated what he could do to have the necessary outcome.
Fear is what makes them freeze, and fear itself is hard to remove. He and the others are also the reason why the soldiers are afraid.
There is also some other way. One way would be to give the soldiers some morale to give them the resolve to fight back, but the guardians can't give as such. The other would be to give them encouragement or motivation, but that is up to the soldiers themselves to give or have that.
Still, Agiel has to at least think of a way to have the outcome the master expects. However, nothing comes in mind except for talking to them in a warrior's way like telling them a soldier should not act like and they're being cowards rather than soldiers or something like that.
Agiel stopped walking and looked to the humans.
How should I do it, I'm no warrior to say how one should be a warrior.
Agiel thought.
He pondered for a moment and suddenly someone spoke out loud.
”Aren't you supposed to be soldiers? Then be one, fight the enemy right in front of you, be the warrior that you are, or is it that you people chose to be cowards instead? Then there's no point in you for being soldiers. You have no place to go, no escape, so there's no choice but to fight!”
Agiel looked to his left where the voice came from, and he knew exactly who said that.
Well said.
Agiel thought.
The words that his colleague and friend said should be enough to spark some light inside the hearts of the humans who were consumed by fear. However, something that is from the enemy would not be enough to give them the motivation to fight.
As Agiel is of a different group and is seen by the humans as an enemy, he won't be able to grow the fire. If the humans can't find their resolve to fight, they all might end up dying without resistance and Agiel presumes it would give an unsatisfying result to his master.
Agiel doesn't want his master to be disappointed.
Then he heard a voice mixed in a little static from the soldiers' ranks.
”Soldiers! Muster some courage, the courage to defend our home, the courage to bring peace to us once again. Do not let fear consume you! The enemies are in front of us, which mean we can shoot them. Do not let them do what they want! Our peaceful lives will return when they are gone, so soldiers, fight until your last breath, do not lose hope! Fight for your friends and family!”
Of course, he can hear it, the guardians have superhuman abilities – or it should be said all of Xyn's creations have superhuman abilities. But not all of the abilities are of great extent like the hearing.
After hearing the words from the radios, Agiel smiled behind the mask.
Now that should spread the fire.
Agiel thought.
Looking at the humans, he saw energized faces and motivated eyes, finally encouraged to fight, and Agiel was happy about it, finally, his master can gain the satisfying result he expects to have.
Then the soldiers shouted, showing their resolve.
”HOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!”
”WE WILL NOT GIVE UP!”
”WE'LL FIGHT FOR OUR FAMILY AND OUR HOMETOWN!”
The soldiers have gained the courage and resolve to fight back so they pointed their weapons at Agiel with killing intent in their eyes.
The soldiers held their weapons firmly eager to kill their enemies even if it means death to them. After every soldier is ready, a high ranking officer in the soldiers' ranks gave the order.
”FIRE!”
Every soldier pulled the trigger and countless bullets and magic particles flew from their weapons to Agiel, of course, he did nothing but stood straight and still.
Before the projectiles could touch his clothes, the bullets simply fell to the ground and the magic particles disappeared into nothingness.
Agiel casually looked around like he doesn't care at all that countless projectile intended to kill him are hitting him and humans glaring and looking at him with killing intent. Agiel does not need to care about petty humans, but only for the interests of his master.
