5 Chapter 5 – Activating the Elemental Roots (1/2)
Zhu Xuan was over the moon. If he had activated his elemental roots, he would have had some standing in his clan. No one would blame him saying that he is wasting the clan resources.
To be a cultivator in the world of Lightning Lake, activating your ”elemental roots” was an essential step. When a child reaches the age of 10, an activation ceremony was held where they were given a medicinal potion.
It is called activation potion, created by alchemists, by combining various elemental resources and rare herbs to stimulate the elemental roots in your body and activate them. Activation potions are only found in the clans and wealthy families because the recipe and ingredients for the potion is kept secret by them. So only way for anyone to activate their elemental roots is either you are part of the clan, or you join one to become a low level member of the clan.
Activating your Elemental roots help you attract Qi; every cultivator has different elemental roots that will be able to absorb Qi in heaven and earth that relates to their elemental roots. For example, a cultivator who activated his fire elemental roots will be able to absorb fire elemental Qi among heaven and earth. These cultivators will also be able to use fire elemental cultivation resources to accelerate their cultivation progress. His second brother activated a rare Lightning elemental root at his activation ceremony and he was considered as a genius who will become the leader level genius of heaven and earth.
On the other hand, people who haven't activated Elemental roots will not be able to cultivate elemental Qi and their progress will be very slow, and they are destined to be the lowest of all cultivators.
Zhu Xuan is already 15 and still haven't activated his elemental roots. After five years of bitter cultivation without any resources, he barely reached second stage and he also injured his body. Second brother reached the peak of sixth stage when he was 15 years old. It can be seen how hard it is to cultivate without activating the elemental roots.

Although you are few years past than the optimum activation age, I'm 100% confident I can activate your elemental roots.” It answered calmly.
Zhu Xuan was ecstatic when he heard the explanation, he felt grateful for the chance he had been given and bowed to the will-o-wisp ”Thank you senior.”
”No need to stand on ceremony. Sit down, drink this potion and meditate, and try to absorb the elemental Qi around you.” Will-o-wisp didn't mind and as it explained a dark red potion appeared in front of Zhu Xuan.
Zhu Xuan took the potion dancing slowly in the air in front of him, he caught it, sat down in a meditative potion and drank the potion. He closed his eyes and started to feel the elemental Qi around him.
Time passed minute by minute. And even after it took a time for an incense stick to burn, there was still no change in Zhu Xuan. He let out a sigh.
He lost his final hope of activating his elemental roots and couldn't help but give will-o-wisp a questioning look and thought ”Didn't you say you will be able to activate it with 100% surety?”
It was also confused as to why Zhu Xuan hasn't activated his elemental roots. ”That doesn't seem right. In the past, I have activated someone'd elemental roots who was 23 years old at that time, but you are only 15 years old. How come you haven't activated your elemental roots?
