18 First Gym Battle 2 Rewritten: Skip if u wan (1/2)

”Monferno!!”

The little Monkey appeared on the arena as it began to playfully jump around. After calming down he spotted Onix at the other side of the arena and began to taunt him with his finger. Onix who was quietly watching the strange monkey jumping around began to growl as he stared angrily at Monferno.

Saad smiled seeing his Pokemon antics and said,

”Monferno! It is time for your first official battle. I hope you will enjoy it”

Monferno who was busy messing around with the Onix nodded as he gives Saad a side glance.

Rocky who was standing quietly at the other side of the arena muttered silently after seeing the Monferno appear,

”An evolved Pokemon…..”

He stared at the Monkey and was soon turned speechless when saw that the first thing Monferno did after appearing was to mess with his Onix. Rocky stared at his Onix was slowly starting to rile up and smiled,

”Interesting….”

Saad stared at the huge Onix in front of his Pokemon and looked towards Rocky who was silently staring at Monferno.

”We can begin now”, Saad said.

Rocky nodded and looked towards his Pokemon,

”Onix! Use Tackle”

The huge Rock-Type Pokemon who was staring angrily at the Monferno growled loudly as he charged straight at him intending to smash him with his rock solid body.

”Monferno! Dodge it and use Scratch”

Monferno stared mockingly at the Pokemon charging at him like an angry bull and dodged him at the last moment by jumping up. He looked down at the huge body of the Onix and began to hit it with his sharp claws. The attack easily hit the target but from the looks of it, didn't do much damage.

”Onix! Use your tail to whip him”, Rocky who saw the Monferno dodge and attack his Pokemon ordered.

Onix who was angry that his target dodged him and was now attacking him continuously, growled and raised his huge tail and lashed it angrily at Monferno.

”Monferno! Dodge it and use Mach Punch”

Monferno who was attacking Onix with his claws noticed the tail that was about to hit him and jumped down from the huge Pokemon and dodged his attack by doing a few backflips.

After stopping and gaining his footing he charged at the Pokemon again with his fist glowing brightly.

”Onix! Use Dig”

Onix who was getting more and more angrily at the nimble Monkey dug deep in the ground and dodged the attack from his attacker.

Monferno who was so close to hitting the target turned angry as he began to look around trying to find a trace of the Onix but it looked like that huge Pokemon had no intention of coming out.

Saad who was staring at the ground to find any strange movement turned his head towards the place where Onix had dug the hole smiled and said,

”Monferno! Use Flame Thrower at that hole”

Monferno smiled widely and opened his mouth as it began to fill up with fire. He took a huge breath and launched a pillar of fire at the hole that Onix used to hide underground. And soon, the rocks near the hole began to melt as it got flooded with the hot fire.

As Monferno was busy spewing fire, the ground behind him began to shake and the huge Pokemon burst out of it in a hurry as if escaping something.

Rocky stared at Saad and said,

”A wise move..”

Saad smiled back after hearing him and said,

”Thank You..”

Onix who was now on the ground began to growl loudly at the monkey who repeatedly messed around with him during this battle. Monferno who was now facing him silently smirked and began to make strange voices towards Onix which made him even angrier.

”Onix! Use Rock Throw”

The angry Onix stared at Monferno and struck his tail heavily at the ground causing an avalanche of rocks flying towards Monferno. The range of the attack was impressive as it surrounded Monferno with rocks.

Saad watched as the rocks were hurled towards his Pokemon and shouted,

”Monferno! Use Ember to counter them”

Monferno who was about to hit by the rocks opened his mouth and spat bolts of fires towards the rocks. The fire hit the upcoming rocks and melted them before they could reach Monferno but unluckily it was not enough to handle all the rocks as some of them hit his body hard enough to make him grimace in pain.

”Damn! We should have used Dig”, Saad cursed weakly as he saw the rocks hit Monferno.
