47 Library of Mages 7 (1/2)
When I looked, 27 seemed surprised. He saw me fight previously, but this fight was completely different from the previous one.It showed them, hopefully, that I'm capable of winning without overpowering my opponents with my soul essence. Also, all the seals I used were created by me.
If that was not impressive… I don't know what is. 27 and the two teachers talked for a while before coming over. ”Congratulations, you two passed. Emily, you showed impressive skills considering the time since you awakened. Compared to the report from the last fight you showed great growth and improvement. As for you Dominique, you didn't use your elemental essence in the slightest, and from 27 said all the seal you used were made by yourself. Correct?”
”Correct.”
”You joined and started studying here not more than two months ago but your skill, strength, comprehension, it's all impressive. Honestly, I think to really test we would need to find a much stronger opponent.”
The teacher said. He gave us some papers confirming the passing off the exam and left alongside the other teacher. 27, on the other hand, stayed behind looking annoyed. He took us behind the stadium and started talking. ”You two are really annoying.”
”But you will keep your end of the deal?”
”… I can't let you enter the Library. At least not for now, there are rules that need to be followed.” With some resistance 27 started talking about the Library of Mages. ”First of all, you will need to pass all the exams up to Year four exam. That's the minimum. Other then this you will need a recommendation from me, your teacher, the principal, and the vice principal.”
”That's it? It won't be too hard then.”
”If it's me, then yes. You will get a recommendation, in case of the principle and the vice principal… you won't find it that easy. They will not give it to you just like that, at least they never gave it to anyone like that. I won't be surprised if they give you some ridiculous request in exchange.”
If that's the case, then depending on what they will ask for, if they do, it can be either easy or extremely difficult.
”Anything else? If that is all we can start working on it now, we can set up the year two exam and prepare for it.”
”Not so fast. Take at least a month break between the exams, Ok? Keep going to classes, get good results, in the meanwhile I will talk with the principal. We usually don't let people that just joined even know about the library, most students never even hear a mention of it!”
27 didn't want to do any of it. It was just too obvious. He talked for a bit more, with his annoyed voice before disappearing in a flash. We somehow were able to get through this, Emily still had a lot of training to do if she wanted to become more useful.
Since we had a month before taking the next exam, we went back to our previous schedule. Training, classes, training, we focused on increasing our strength. I started attending other classes which focused on different weapons such as spears and axes.
Three weeks later we were sitting in the cafeteria with Ike, eating and chatting leisurely. There was not much happening these days, even 27 stopped complaining about us. When Ike was talking about the new Martial Technique, he was currently learning three people approached our table. This was quite rare, knowing we are from S-class most people avoided us, only Travis and his team regularly ate with us.
The three looked older than me, most likely they were third or fourth years. The three men focused on one person, Emily. The one at the front, with a scar under his eye, he spoke with arrogance in his voice. ”Your father is expecting to see you today. I don't want to say it twice, so remember to show up, you know what will happen if you don't.”
”I already told him that I won't come. So, you can repeat that for him.” Visibly upset she blurted out.
