49 Here to Help (1/2)
James was currently being treated at the medical tents near the port, away from the battlefield. In his tent was a doctor and a few nurses, there were also two soldiers outside the tent standing guard.
The view of the battlefield was displeasing to say to least. There were human and beasts corpses scattered across the ground, having all sorts of wounds. In the sky there were currently some fighter jets, flying around and firing bullets at birds, ripping them apart, when they hit anyway.
There were no more ground vehicles left, they had all been either flipped on their side or upside down.
Soldiers were standing at a distance, firing at the beasts' heads, or any part of the body that they could actually damage.
Marshal Jack had also gotten involved, although he didn't release all his strength he was still killing plenty of beasts. As for the reason he hadn't used all his strength yet, it was because he was waiting for the big bosses to come out.
They were currently still dealing with what they believed to be the second wave, they had currently killed a majority of the enemies at the base, but some drones had spotted an army much larger coming, the final wave only being minutes away.
There were hundreds of birds and thousands of grounded beasts, slowly making their way over, and behind all that were five individual beasts being carried over in various small structures to carry them.
The leaders could only swear in their mind, they have had too many casualties to actually fight off the final wave. They were also starting to run low of ammunition because they weren't fully prepared yet, they could only pray the others came back.
Time for them slowed down, every minute felt like hours, waiting for something to happen.
*Roar*Screech*
They were here, filling the skies and land, thousands of beasts staring at the weakened soldiers like they were food.
Soldiers began running back, only taking shots every few seconds when they look behind themselves. There was nothing else they could do.
The Warships in the back continued to shoot the beasts, this time though, trying their best to waste as little ammo as possible, they only shot every few seconds when they knew they could hit.
Jack was getting more annoyed as every minute passed, to him it felt like they weren't going anywhere with this battle, and now they're further back than square one.
”Come, my beasts!” Jack shouted.
Before him, stood four large birds, each giving off an intimidating aura which even caused the beasts to think twice.
All of them were colourful, their feathers were bright colours such as red, light blue and green. They stared at some of the beasts as if they haven't eaten in years. The weaker but smarter beasts began to retreat and wait.
But the dumber ones didn't know what they were in for.
*Bang*
They all shot off in the same direction, each grabbing onto one leg of the best before flying in opposite directions.
The beasts were ripped apart, with each of its legs in one of the birds talons.
They let go and went onto their next victim, slowly making their way across the battlefield, leaving a trail of bodies behind them.
A strange sound went across the battlefield, which all beasts snapped their head towards to. Jack also stared, trying to get a better look.
Behind four gigantic lizards was a chariot, with a large humanoid figure there. It almost looked like a mix between a crocodile and a human. It sat roughly 3 metres tall, its skin was covered in scales, its long mouth extended out by 30 – 60cms with rows of sharp teeth. Behind it Jack could see a tail wiggling around, being roughly 1 metre long.
After it sounded out a noise the beasts began organising themselves into a formation. Like a medieval formation, with the tanks at front with archers at front.
