81 Frigid Wolf Vs Hidden (2/2)
Flying at full speed, the several clones all moved in conjunction as they extend their two hands forward, palm raised upward so the flat of it was facing the retreating Alexander. Several small soft click noises sounded before the center of their palms suddenly opened to reveal a small hole before something quick and silver shot out of each of these holes, a silver afterimage in its wake.
Alexander peaked behind him to find several small projectiles flying in his direction like small arrows. At closer look, they all seemed to be metallic poles only a few inches long with a pointed end and intricate runes down its full length.
Singing a quick chant, an azure glow formed a barrier behind him midair, shaped in the form of a large shield. The initial several dozen bolts crashed explosively against this shield, throwing out sparks and cracking deeply the surface of the shield before losing momentum and falling. But the second half of bolts managed to pierce through the then damaged shield without losing too much momentum and chasing after Alexander's shadow.
These bolts were incredibly fast and caught up to Alexander while he was still only several dozen meters from the earth below. But with a massive and guttural swipe from his sword, glacial wind swept the closest of the incoming bolts and sent them flying into the earth and thistle trees around him.
Finally, Alexander reached the ground, singing a quick chant another azure shield appeared and blocked off the remaining bolts, ending the chase. Alexander stop there though as he chanted once more and a glacial cold wind began to form before him, large and encompassing and so cold that icicles began to form in the turbulent and freezing winds.
With a large growl, Alexander swept his Crying Night in an upwards arc and sent the glacial wind blasting towards the incoming clones, who were forced to stop and react to the raging winds threatening their existence.
Five of the clones shot in front of the rest and interlinked their fingers as an azure barrier began to form in front of them and expand at an incredible rate, just in time to meet the brunt of the incoming attack which raged forward like a powerful storm, threatening to blast that growing barrier at any minute.
As the wind raged on and the barrier held strong, the two sides were locked in a stalemate as below, Alexander sung out in his longest chant yet before finally crushing the golden sphere in his hand against the cold ground below, its form smashing into glittering gold dust that merged with the earth upon eventual contact.
”We were too late.” A Silva Mona clone clenched its teeth and fixed the bowler hat on its head haphazardly, its frustration palpable.
With the area of impact of the golden sphere at its center, golden runes began to expand in a disc shape, covering the ground quickly, its length even vanishing in the distance.
This massive, expanding rune only completed when it reached a radius of two miles.
Alexander let out a heavy breath as he stood from his crouching position and gazed resolutely upwards, his sight transcending the turbulent gales of his own spell and the azure barrier holding it back and at the sight of several clones looking back at him similarly.
He was not going to give his attacker any chance of escape. Even if there was the possibility that they were all just clones, they could still hold a clue to the organization that was threatening the livelihood of his family.
