11 Entry to Evergale City (1/2)
When she laid eyes on Evergale City, the little kitten couldn't prevent her eyes from growing wide in shock. It was huge. It had to be several miles wide, with towering metallic walls that were a dark violet in colour; this violet was so dark, one had to concentrate to see the violet shimmer of the metal. At each corner of the walls were four grand towers, where several guards watched over the surrounding lands. At each of the four gates of the city were two more towers at each side of the gates, though these towers were a little smaller in size.
The buildings in the city were all made from red coloured stone. Most buildings were one or two stories high, but in several areas of the city were massive sized buildings, the biggest of which lied at the northernmost area of the city. Jonathan explained to the little kitten that this giant building was the Evergale Palace. This was the home of the City Governor and was created from the same metal of the walls and was shaped like an old medieval castle, though a very grand version of one that stood around 200 meters tall.
Exiting from Red Winter Forest, the Wilderwolf party headed towards the eastern gate to enter. Approaching the gate, the little kitten could see several other people also lining up to enter, reaching in the hundreds.
'So this is a major city of the Falcio Kingdom. Makes me wonder how big Falcio is... Is this grand size normal... I mean, these people's technology is ancient compared to my home world... But I guess with the help of magic, they can create cities just as grand as some of the cities there. Though I can't compare much. As a street cat, my knowledge of my home world is very limited. Who knows how big the city I lived in was compared to others. Really, I never left the street that I lived on for that matter...'
The hustle and bustle of the surrounding people woke her up from her thoughts as Jonathan and the rest had entered their ranks. Actually, it would be safe to say they had just walked by their ranks and were heading straight to the gates to the little kitten's confusion.
”Meow?”
”Hmm? Ah! You wondering why we're cutting the line. Hehe, that's the advantage of being a Magician, little lass. The Falcio Kingdom highly treasures Magician's, especially powerful ones and they will naturally give us Magician's several advantages. Any Magician of Inner Haven Rank or above can enter any city, not only immediately, but also free of charge. Though there are a few cities which are an exception to that rule. But Evergale isn't one of them!”
With her question answered, the little kitten returned her concentration to her cultivation. She felt she was getting really close to her bottleneck, and when she reached that point, a breakthrough would be near.
'According to Jonathan, the better spells become available at the late stage of Minor Rank for us Magical Beasts. At that point, I too can fight other Magical Beasts and Magicians; though of a low level.'
As the little kitten meditated, her aura surging forth into her soul, Jonathan and the rest of the party walked up to the gate where they were greeted by one of the many guards. To prove their Magical Ranks, Uncle Kil had to place one of his hands upon a strange device. It was a black spherical glass object that sat upon a white pillar; the pillar was warped at the top and resembled a demonic like hand that wrapped around the black sphere.
Upon touching the sphere it began to glow an azure glow. The azure glow began to dim and left behind in the sphere was a simple phrase that the little kitten couldn't read.
”Meow?”
”This is a Black Divination Pearl. Black Divination Pearl's are a Magical Item that can test a Magician's rank. The word's this Black Pearl just showed were the words for 'Spirit Rank' naturally.”
The little kitten now understood. With the identification done, Uncle Kil was able to allow all of them entry. This was another benefit Magician's had. Inner Haven Magician's could bring in 10 other people free of charge, while Spirit Rank Magician's could bring in 50.
Upon entry to the city, the little kitten let her eyes drift across the various buildings and the people. The immediate area around them seemed to be a residential area as far as the eye can see. There were also a few stands littered about, selling wares and food. As they walked through the streets, the little kitten saw various shops the further they walked into the city until they had reached the center area of the city, which was a bustling market.
