Chapter 311 – Someone Is Smiling at Me (1/2)

The two teams were getting closer.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Shao Xuan blocked some arrows again. He also grabbed and flung back a few of them towards the direction from which the arrows were originally fired. However, he didn’t look to see the arrows finding their mark on the enemy archers.

As the two teams got closer, the stench of blood in the air drove the beasts mad. The slaves who were earlier holding back the beasts with their full strength began to weaken their grip on the harnesses and ropes tied to the beasts.

The beasts felt the taut ropes go loose and considered it as a signal. The beasts seemed like they heard an unspoken command to attack from the slaves. Snarling and displaying their sharp fangs, and claws, the beasts rushed towards the other side.

The roars of the beasts became more intense, and the sound of tearing of flesh and crunching of bones overshadowed the painful howls of the slaves. The stench of blood became stronger and people felt some things spray over their faces but couldn’t distinguish if it was the blood of their companion or the snow and sand.

Above the white snow and yellow sand, the blood splashed everywhere.

People who were fighting at the moment were all lower-level slaves, while the more senior slaves either guarded the Slave Masters, or just stood by as if they were watching an opera.

Their masters, the two Great Slave Masters, were sitting on their own mounts, at ease, holding painted wine cups with intricate designs of strange shape and completed patterns, and tasting the fruit wine in a good mood. It seemed like everything that’s happening around them was just an appetizer for them. The more intense the battle, the better their mood became.

Blood was just a factor to liven things up.

On the side of White Stone City, a beast that was put on the front shook its mane and lifted its front paws condescendingly. With its two sword-like fangs it tried to bite a slave of the other team.

As for that slave of the Fallen Leaves City, who was targeted by the beast, he gripped the vine rope of a beast of the Fallen Leaves City with one hand and with his other hand he tightened the grip on his spear and threw it in the direction of the other team. The spear almost pierced into the body of the beast but was blocked by a person from the enemy side.

Looking at the two big fangs that were fast approaching, the Fallen Leaves City slave thought that he would be bitten to death. However, in the next moment, he found that the head of the beast of the White Stone City that jumped up and tried to attack him was slammed into the ground by a creature that swooped down from the sky. The beast’s mouth which was opened wide to bite the slave, ended up eating the sand instead.

The slave who was about to be killed was instead knocked down.

Chacha had just been watching the clash from the sky. It couldn’t help but get involved in the fighting. After the arrows and spears of both the teams got used up, Chacha had quickly rushed over, sank its talons into the beast and slammed it down.

Although five people were also lifted along with the beast, the size of the beast did not exceed Chacha’s maximum tolerance. But Chacha didn’t plan to keep on carrying them. After raking the beast, Chacha threw the beast as well as the five people in the direction of the Fallen Leaves Lord’s mount – they were thrown directly to the mouth of the huge mount.

The confrontation between the two teams did not target the two Lords. There were no attackers around the Lords’ mounts, which seemed to be a tacit understanding. The contest between the Lords often happened in the Beast Battle City, not in a deserted place with nobody to witness.

Although the huge mounts were eager to participate in the battle, they could only vent through howls – they could not kill the people and beasts of the other side. The mount of Fallen Leaves Lord did not expect that the eagle would bring such benefits to it.

The Lords’ mounts of both teams did not get involved in a battle easily, but they would not give up on free prey [t/n: primordial food delivery ;)].

The beast that had wanted to bite the slave became free food for the bigger mount.
