5 Finally! Zhang Xuan in sight! (1/2)
Lu Fengyi shivered slightly before opening his eyes to the rising sun. The night had been terrible as not only did it rain constantly throughout the timeless darkness, the locals had gathered together within the inn, celebrating their children's success in entering the Hongtian academy ranks.
Although there were times where Lu Fengyi had nodded off, unable to push away the urge to sleep any longer, most of the night had been spent wide awake, cold and uncomfortable.
It was morning, the warm rays of sun proved it so, enveloping his body and bathing him in the positives of the day. Lu Fengyi stretched out his arms and legs before leaping to his feet and yawning widely. As he stretched, a symphony of cracking joints sounded out from his back as his entire body relaxed from the uncomfortable night.
Peering around the corner of the alleyway, Lu Fengyi stepped out into the flowing crowd of working farmers and busy cultivators, moving in the direction of Hongtian academy. Although the school was prestigious and spanned over one of the largest developed areas in the region, it was not far from the local village and one would be able to walk there quite easily.
As Lu Fengyi walked further and further away from the local village, the number of people beside him also began to decrease, now mainly consisting of children of different ages. The road was evidently new and had signs of recent refurbishment while the grass on the sides were perfectly cut, growing in the most exquisite, yet beautiful ways possible.
Soon, the Hongtian academy came into view. Although it was still over half an hours walk away, the magnificence and grandeur was shown in full. Due to the school located upon the flattest hill in the region, the tall towers pierced the low-lying clouds, making the landmark seem like a transcension of heaven itself. The half hour walking distance did not make the Hongtian academy grounds seems smaller at all, instead accentuating the sheer size of the school, to be able to be seen from several kilometres away.
As Lu Fengyi continued down the straight, long road, several carriages from different well-known sects passed by the walking children, each of them equally as imposing as the last. One would notice that upon approaching Hongtian academy, faint bursts of glowing power could be seen leaking from the windows, almost flaunting the absolute power of the academy.
Lu Fengyi, during his life as an author, would always find spare time to go out to do running exercises in order to not only improve his health, but to also expand his lung capacity. Ever since he was young, his father had always told him, no matter what job Lu Fengyi would take on in the future, whether it be a shopkeeper or a lawyer, the most important aspect to maintain was not financial status, but health. Hence, Lu Fengyi had built up an athlete grade body by simply running several miles each day in the morning and the afternoon, becoming a healthy and fit human being.
Now that he had been placed into this teenager's body, Lu Fengyi felt truly aggrieved that he could not keep his original fitness level. Otherwise, he would not be walking and jogging to the academy, but instead sprinting the entire way, completing the journey in less than a quarter of the time he would spend now.
Upon finally reaching the academy, Lu Fengyi noticed that basically all the children headed straight into the academy while those within the carriages bid a quick farewell to their fellow sect members before rushing in. As the proverb would go, 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do.' Lu Fengyi decided to head inside the main building of Hongtian academy alongside his peers.
When Lu Fengyi passed through the large, ivory doors, he felt an instant change in atmosphere as itbecame more refined and powerful. The flooding winds of the exterior world had disappeared, now replaced with the quiet, docile aura of attentive students within a classroom. In fact, the interior design of the entrance hall reminding Lu Fengyi strongly of the Harry Potter school hall, filmed within the University of New South Wales.
Lu Fengyi felt a strong bump from behind him and turning around, he saw a group of excited students pointing and discussing with each other, ”Hey, which teacher do you want to study under?”
”I wanted to study under Shang Bin laoshi, however he only accepts people who had ranks better than 500. If only I had displayed a little more strength, then my rank would not be a mere 540!”
