17 Day 16: The Scum Is Dreaming (1/2)

He opened his eyes when he felt a stinging pain on his leg.

”Aaargh! Kill! Kill that damn stupid grasshopper - !” a soldier cursed as he glared at the half dead mantis beast lying not far from him.

”Yes!” the other soldiers said and rained photon laser bullets to the beast.

”Raaaarh!” the beast roared and died.

”Commander, are you fine?” the soldier attendant asked him, concerned.

”Yes.” He answered as he stood up. He winced and gritted his teeth when his leg hurt.

The damn stupid grasshopper pierced it earlier.

Damn. I really used that soldier's idiotic description to that monster. He thought and grimaced. He sighed and turned to his attendant. ”Come on. Let's round up – ” he said.

He still hadn't finished his sentence when his attendant looked behind him, horrified. ”Commander - !” the soldier attendant screamed and jumped on him just on time when, in the corner of his eyes, he saw a sharp, big object aiming on his head.

It was the damn monster's claw. Before he could close his eyes, the sharp object pierced him and his attendant.

”Hah!” he gasped and immediately sat up on his bed, sweat all over his body. He caught his breath and immediately checked his leg and head. He sighed, relieved, when there's no hole or wound on his head and leg. He looked around, now realized he woke up. ”Damn.” He cursed and took a deep breath. ”Damn dreams...” he muttered, then sighed.

He went down his bed.

The dream he had now is just one of his countless dreams. No. Actually, that was the 127th one. He thought and sighed as he wore his uniform. Yes. He actually can count his dreams, and actually remember it.

Am I genius or what? He thought and turned when his phone rang.

”Blasted Fu Sheng! Where are you now?!” it was his classmate, Ji You. ”The prof's here. Where's our damn report?!” he asked, mad.

Fu Sheng frowned. How dare he damn my report? He thought, pissed. But, he calmly answered. ”I just woke up. We're still the second to the last to report.” He said and immediately turned off his phone before the other could answer.

Yes. It was his report. He's the only one who made it despite it's a group work. Why did I make it alone? He thought, then frowned. I hate interacting with people. More people to talk with, more bullshit to deal with. Yes. People are bullshits. That includes him.

Since everyone is a scum.

With that thought, he took his time to eat, then went to the university. Just in time for their group's presentation, which made them almost blew their head off because of anger.

”We'll never let you join our group again!” Ji You yelled at him when their class ended.

Everybody turned to them, including their professor.

Fu Sheng's face is blank. ”Yeah. Thanks for saving me the trouble. I don't want to group with you again.” he told him.

Ji You's eyes turned to slits, almost want to choke him to death.

”Good luck making your reports, since I won't lend mine to you next time.” He said.

They all gasped, shocked. Ji You's face went pale.

”Ah. Right. There won't be next time.” He added, then took his bag and walked towards the door.

”Fu Sheng, how dare you!” Ji You roared and pointed him, glaring at him murderously.

Just like that, everybody went in uproar. ”So it was Fu Sheng's work?” the students said. ”No wonder it was well – made...”

”Yeah. I was really surprised when Ji You claimed it was their group's work. Like, duh. Everybody knows they're all trash.”

”Yeah. Surprisingly, Fu Sheng's there. He's a diamond in that heap of trash. No wonder the trashes take him in their group.”

”They just got lucky since everyone felt they don't deserve to be with Fu Sheng. I mean, Fu Sheng's a genius. And those trashes took that chance. They really are a trash.”

”Yes. Yes! Now they won't ever have that chance again. How dare they kick out Fu Sheng... when in fact it should be Fu Sheng who should kick them out. Shameless trashes...”

Murmurs filled the room. Even the professor's face can't be painted of Picasso, Gogh or Munch. He glared at Ji You. His face clearly screams one thing: ”go to the office after class.” Clearly, they'd be kicked out of the school.

The presentation just now, even though it was in groups, is rated through individuals' efforts. It's the basis if one should graduate with flying colors, or fall covered with the filthiest filth. And Ji You is on the second category.

Fu Sheng didn't want to watch more drama since he had lots of it just from his dreams. He left.

”One cappuccino, please.” The man in the next line said.

Fu Sheng glanced at him. The man is wearing a dark tux and silver watch. What's wrong in the picture is that this establishment is a food chain.

Clearly, this man is so out of place.

”What's your order?” the girl in the counter asked.

Fu Sheng turned to her. ”One chocolate drink and sandwich.” He told her then smiled.

The girl blushed and nodded, then quickly arranged his order. Fu Sheng's smile disappeared as he looked around.

The girls are staring at him. He just smiled unconsciously. He took out his phone and checked his mail, completely ignoring the looks the women are giving him.

Fu Sheng is not really handsome, but he's so charming. Those sharp eyes with warm almond eyes that when one looks at those eyes their heart melts. His smooth skin that looks delicate enough. And his lips that always look like he's pouting it almost make you want to kiss it.

”H – here.” The girl said, his face as red as the sauce of the sandwich.

”Thanks.” Fu Sheng told her, his face now blank. He took the order and went to the vacant table on the corner. He put the tray and sat on the chair beside the wall, checking his mail.

Fu Sheng is an aspiring architect. Today, he'll be meeting with a manager of one of the leading construction companies. And this company is the 15th one that's offering him a job. The first 14 ones aren't bad. It's just that, Fu Sheng doesn't feel excited as they do their pitch talk to him, encouraging him to join their company.

Yes. What's wrong is that they sound desperate. Fu Sheng thought. Although he's a fresh grad, it should be him who should sound desperate since he's the one who's looking for a job, not the other way around. Even if Fu Sheng is a fresh grad, but since he has a unique skill and talent it makes him sought after of the big companies in the architect world.

That proved when he was chased by the 14 companies. And now this is the 15th.

He answered his phone when he saw an incoming call. ”Yes?” he said and sipped his drink.

”Fu Sheng.” It was his professor, the one who kicked out Ji You and his group a day before their graduation.

Ji You and his group never saw the light of the day again in the architect world. Being kicked out by one of the most prestigious schools will shame you to death.

”Yes?” Fu Sheng said as he looked outside the glass wall.

”Are you on the Duo Comp?” he asked. He's referring to his meeting with the manager of the said company.

”Waiting.” He answered. His professor knew this is his attitude – not talking too much, and just talking the least that's possible.

The old man sighed. ”Don't be too picky, alright? Or else you won't land a job.” He told him, but the old man knows this is impossible.

There's still ten big companies left that's waiting for him to answer their call.

The old man coughed. ”Alright. I'm hanging up now. Good luck – ” he said and ended the call. His good luck is more for the manager of the company.

Fu Sheng sighed and leaned on his chair. He looked at the time. He still got 30 minutes before the appointed time. He took out his laptop and opened it. He'll just write.

Yes. Aside from making exquisite designs for the buildings and houses, writing is his other pastime.

He opened his blog and read the latest comment. ”Vote... vote... added...” he muttered as he scrolls down.

”You're a fan of TCT?” a voice said beside him.

Fu Sheng's forehead knotted. Not because he was annoyed but because he's confused. It's just natural for a woman to ask about a romance author's website. But, the one who asked him was a man, which is really rare, since men doesn't usually show that they're actually a fan of a romance author.

Fu Sheng turned. ”N – ” his answer hung on the tip of his tongue. He wants to curse because of shock, but he held himself back.

It was the man in tux that's out of place who he saw earlier. ”Mind if I take a seat?” the man asked and looked at the empty seat across him.

Fu Sheng just looked at him, didn't answer. The man took it as a 'yes' and sat on the empty chair.

”30 minutes.” Fu Sheng just said and turned to his laptop. The man just smiled. ”I remember you ordered first than me. How come you ran out for seat?” he asked as he turned to his laptop.

”I went to the other side, which actually is full.” The man said and looked at his laptop. ”I'm a fan of TCT, too.” The man said, referring to the codename of the blogger of the site – which is actually Fu Sheng.

Fu Sheng didn't answer and just read the notifications.

”Don't you think his stories are interesting?” the man asked.

Fu Sheng looked at him. The man smiled. Fu Sheng already noticed this earlier. This man is strikingly handsome. It's just said that he's too out of place here, yet still came here.

The man continued. ”It's really fun to travel in different worlds. I mean, don't you want to go to the world filled with magic that defies the laws of gravity?” he asked, referring to the current ongoing fantasy story on his blog.
