11 Day 10: The Scum Is Inquiring (2/2)
Chen Shen nodded. ”... here.” He said and touched Chen Shen's forehead. ”Excuse me – ” he said and took a deep breath.
A second later, Chen Sheng's face distorted after he saw the memories Chen Shen passed to him.
”There.” He said and stepped back.
”... now I know why this memory is in your soul, not your body.” Chen Sheng said after a while of silence.
Chen Shen nodded. ”... take care.” He told Chen Sheng and he and Wen Yan walked away.
Chen Sheng sighed, then waved at Xia Di. ”Let's go.” He said, his heart heavy.
”Yes...” Xia Di answered, the unconscious Lei Ling on his back.
”Xia Di.” Chen Sheng called as they're in front of the gate. ”What will you do if somebody you like also like you?” he asked.
Xia Di didn't answer.
”But... you're just a soul that replaced that somebody the one you like likes...” he continued.
”... Master.” Xia Di called. ”... what matters is the soul.” He said.
Chen Sheng looked at him.
”If it's really Chen Shen's soul that he likes and not yours...” he said, didn't continue.
Chen Sheng fell silent.
”Is there something more Master is worried?” Xia Di asked.
”Mm.” Chen Sheng answered. ”That somebody... he feels guilty for 15 years and blaming himself for something he never did to the one he likes.” He answered. ”And... he thinks that the one he likes has an amnesia so they couldn't remember the accident, and so he's too caring and concerned for the one he likes. Which, sometimes... I feel – ” he said, then took a deep breath. He doesn't know if he should address this in his or Chen Shen's view. ” – if his actions towards me (Chen Shen, if Sheng hadn't possessed this body) is merely out of obligation and not like...” He said, then sighed.
Now Chen Sheng knows why Chen Shen is sighing when Fei Yin is mentioned.
”Master...” Xia Di called after a while.
”Hm?” Chen Sheng said.
”... you fell in love... ” he said.
”... I did.” He answered.
Outside the Newfound Land.
Ming Ye's eyes narrowed when he saw an object flying towards them. He immediately caught it. ”This is...” he said and looked at the letter in his hand, surprised.
”From Junior Brother Xie.” Luo Shi said.
Fei Yin and the others looked alive. ”They're fine!” they exclaimed, relieved.
Ming Ye nodded and he opened the letter. His expression twisted when he read it.
If you're reading this, we've reached the Promising Sect. We can't fly since the citizens of the Newfound Land are with us. I used a Teleportation Magic so we could reach the Promising Sect faster.
Also, by the time you read this... our sect was already destroyed by an unknown person. Even I or Wen don't know. But, don't suspect or blame the demonic sect. They're not the ones behind this. I knew, since it's their clan leader who helped us escape.
Also... by the time you read this, I hope my disciples are safe... especially Chen Sheng. I deduced from that person's words when he attacked me that his goal is Chen Sheng. I still do not know his motive, but I hope Chen Sheng is standing beside you, safe and unharmed, as you read this. Ah. Please be careful, too –
Ming Ye's face is indescribable after reading the letter.
”Why do they want Brother Chen?” it was Li Tian, referring to the culprit. They all also read the letter.
Everybody looked at Chen Han.
Chen Han's face soured. ”Even if you'll beat me to death, I don't know. I also want to know why.” He said. ”But, I won't let anyone harm my Ah Sheng – ”
”He's already harmed.” Li Tian said, his face is sour, too.
”Who is?” a voice said.
They all turned. Their eyes went wide when they saw Chen Sheng walking towards them, together with the beast who has someone on its back.
”Brother Lei!” the disciples exclaimed when they went behind the beast and saw the unconscious Lei Ling. ”Brother Chen, you saved Lei Ling?” they asked, a smile on their face.
But Chen Sheng's face is blank. ”Xia Di did. Right?” he answered and looked at Xia Di.
Dark lines covered everybody's face. Silence fell.
Chen Sheng continued, ignoring their reactions. ”He's really a brave beast.” He said and patted Xia Di's head.
The beast's head is hung so low, they can't see the beast is silently crying. Master... don't threaten me. I already vowed to follow your words. Xia Di thought, then sighed.
”How can I save someone, even my life, from a high – level cultivator that wants to take my life, when my level is not even a tenth of their power?” Chen Sheng asked and smiled brightly to them, every word he say is a knife to others.
The scum... he's back.
Since everybody that were unconscious earlier, including Lei Ling, woke up after they rested outside the Newfound Land, they immediately travelled to the Promising Land to meet Fang Wen and Xie Lan.
”Many thanks to Senior Brother Chen for saving me.” Lei Ling said as he flew on his sword beside Chen Sheng.
He's riding on Xia Di again.
”I didn't...” Chen Sheng said, then sighed when Lei Ling just smiled. He saw in the corner of his eyes that the other disciples are looking at him. He sighed. ”Are you sure you're fine now?” he asked Lei Ling.
”Yes, Senior Brother Chen – ” Lei Ling said.
”I'm fine, too, Brother Chen.” Fei Yin, who's riding with him on Xia Di's back, said.
”... then, it's good.” Chen Sheng just said.
Silence fell. Lei Ling silently flew away from them, sensing the tension.
”You shouldn't have gone to Senior Brother Chen, we already told you that!” the other disciples told Lei Ling, looking at the tension between the two who are on the beast's back.
”But, I just want to thank Senior Brother Chen – ” Lei Ling said.
”Forget it. It's already done.” Another one said.
They all looked at Chen Sheng and Fei Yin that's on Xia Di's back. Fei Yin earlier said that he's still recuperating since he overused his power last night after he broke through the next level.
That's why he's now resting on Xia Di's back, sitting beside Chen Sheng.
”Did that impostor hurt you?” Fei Yin asked, referring to Chen Shen whom they saw earlier before Chen Sheng pushed them out of the gate.
”Didn't.” Chen Sheng answered.
”How come he didn't hurt you?” Fei Yin asked.
”Dunno – ” he answered, then stopped when he felt the air around them became thinner despite they're above the clouds, flying. ”I don't know.” He answered, sensing Fei Yin's getting pissed every minute.
”Do you hate me?” Fei Yin asked.
”No – ”
”I like you.” He said.
”...” Chen Sheng didn't answer.
Little Dragon's G(r)ay Theater:
Li Tian: what really happened back inside the Newfound Land? *puzzled.
Feng Mo: I don't understand, either. *as puzzled as Li Tian.
Impostor: *imitated Xie Lan and created 'Fang Wen'.
Li Tian and Feng Mo: *wide-eyed. Founder?! Shifu - !
Impostor: *imitates Chen Shen and attacks Chen Sheng.
Li Tian and Feng Mo: Brother Chen?! *shocked.
Ming Ye: the impostor now imitates Younger Chen! *surprised.
Fei Yin: damn you, impostor - ! *glares as he unsheathed his sword.
Chen Shen: I'm really the real one! >.<!!!
Others: then... where did the impostor go?
