84 Approaching Danger (1/2)

”That's it.” Said Rainer after carefully harvesting the corpse fungus, although it could be eaten to gain a small resistance to poison, he preferred to keep it and collect other herbs to improve its effects, after all this was the first test day, there was still a week ahead.

After a short break, Rainer decided to leave when he noticed that a small stone shone dimly in the sunlight coming down from the large tree leaves.

The glow came from the ape's corpse.

After looking closely, Rainer found that the ape possessed a spiritual core despite being in the Manifestation stage as he was!

”I had never heard of a magical beast able to form its spiritual core before a breakthrough to the Core Formation stage ...” Rainer muttered after keeping the little green jewel.

Rainer continued his way without realizing that the little jewel was filled with gas flowing in its interior attempting to break its crystal prison, the gas looked like a ghostly face opening and closing its jaws like a beast....

Shortly after Rainer left the scene, the ape's corpse decayed at a vertiginous speed! Its flesh and blood were absorbed by the ground as its bones sank in order to never again be exposed to sunlight.

The Sacred Land was alive! This little world was a living being with consciousness!

...

Outside the Sacred Land, Kirios appeared shortly after Yunli had left upon opening the Sacred Land for the new disciples.

He took a badge out of his pocket and pointed it towards the small world's entrance.

”I was fortunate to keep this badge before my status as a sect elder was removed from me...” Kirios muttered while the entrance in front of him was expanding.

After crossing the entrance to the small world, an air full of miasma made him feel like he was in his Alchemical Room.

”Since I'm here, I'd better supply my poisonous herb stock while looking for the boy.” Kirios said as he entered the wetlands.

...

The night quickly descended over the Sacred Land as the disciples were seeking refuge in caves and nooks, the night was the time when predators went out to hunt and therefore, the most dangerous hours.

One could be ambushed by a magical beasts herd if he walked aimlessly in the dark night.

Not even the moonlight was able to pass through the thick branches and leaves of the wood, plunging it into a total darkness. From time to time you could hear the crunching of branches or dead leaves, the beasts' breath caused cold sweat to run down the backs of young lads who could not find shelter in time and would have to spend the night awake to avoid being devoured.
