Defeating Xiaoyi would bring him easy rep with the Sect Master. Mission B was basically a reward-booster for Mission A. However, Mission A was too terrifying. Defeating Xiaoyi would be impossible without using magic instruments and talismans, and using them meant admitting inferiority in cultivation. If he dared use them, accusations of 'nursing killing intent towards his fellow apprentice sister' would occur as well.

The bigger problem was Feng Shiyao, his Dao Companion. She had an amazing bloodline called Nine-Yin Purple Cauldron. Do you know how xianxia heroines with Yin bloodlines all boost cultivation when fucked by a guy once? Like that, there were nine chances of boosting cultivation by fucking Feng Shiyao nine times!

She was the 'Cultivation Boost Elixir *9' secret rare item in human form!

Anyway, Shu Yidan's grandpa realized this and immediately engaged him and Feng Shiyao. The two bound themselves as Dao Companions, and his predecessor took her virginity to breakthrough Golden Core realm.

The problem was that in his predecessor's memories, the memory of their night together was missing. In fact, he realized that his predecessor minimized all sorts of interaction with her. He even began taking pills as drugs after that night.

It was likely that the 'night together' was a trauma for his predecessor.

Thinking this, Shu Yidan completely ignored Feng Shiyao in the past timeline. Feng Shiyao didn't take being abandoned lying down. While ultimately her efforts to pull Shu Yidan down didn't materialize as he still successfully became the Sect Master, Shu Yidan decided that he might as well throw her a bone this time around.

The problem was that they were Dao Companions. Sweet talking her wouldn't help. Throwing treasures wouldn't help.
