19 Meeting (1/2)
He wasn't disappointed, though, when he didn't see that person there and the bridge is empty. After all, he already expected this'd happen.
He sighed as a bitter smile formed on his lips. ”I really should get used to this.” He muttered as he scratched his head. ”Expecting nothing, no disappointments, too.” He said and sighed.
He was about to leave when he heard a voice.
”... Wanyin.”
Jiang Cheng sharply turned and, together with the moon unveiled by the clouds, Lan Xichen appeared in the middle of the bridge, standing with his exceptionally bright smile on his face, his snow white robes looked as if glowing because of the moonlight.
He felt his heart stopped, his whole world stopped and he held his breath. His whole world began to move when he saw him slowly walking towards him.
But, just as how slow the man is walking towards him, it's how fast Jiang Cheng's heart is beating.
Lan Xichen stopped in front of him. ”I believe you remembered.” He softly said, staring at Jiang Cheng's surprised face. ”This is where we first met, that's why you are here, too... am I right?” he asked and chuckled when he saw him flushed.
Jiang Cheng, embarrassed, looked away. ”I just happened...” he said, then glanced at Lan Xichen. His face went redder when he saw him smiling brightly at him, obviously seeing he's teasing him.
He lowered his head to hide his embarrassed face.
”But – ” Wei Wuxian said as he sipped his drink. ” – I think they're really not that close.” He said.
Jiang Cheng raised his head and blinked. ”What do you mean?” he asked, puzzled.
Wei Wuxian put down his cup. ”Who would stab his own bestfriend - ?” he asked in a matter-of-fact tone.
”Me.” Jiang Cheng seriously answered.
Wei Wuxian's eyes went wide and he gaped at him. He looked at him, hurt. Lan Wangji's usually cold face turned colder as he grabbed Wei Wuxian's hand tightly, his hand shaking.
”I'd seriously stab you.” Jiang Cheng said. ”But – ” he said, then paused. ” – I'd stop before I could strike you.” He said and looked away.
Wei Wuxian's eyes went wide, surprised. He then smiled, understanding what Jiang Cheng meant. Lan Wangji's shoulder relaxed as he gently held Wei Wuxian's hand.
”No matter how mad I am, but that anger can't overcome my trust towards you.” Jiang Cheng said. ”I... once I'd struck you, I'd only feel guilty and awkward if ever we'd meet again, so...” he said, didn't continue.
”Jiang Cheng...” Wei Wuxian said.
Jiang Cheng looked away, his cheeks red. ”Well, that's what I think, anyway.” He said. ”That doesn't mean that's what that guy is thinking, too – ” he told them, referring to Lan Xichen.
The two looked at each other, didn't speak anymore. Silence fell on them.
”But – ” Wei Wuxian said after a while.
Jiang Cheng looked at him.
Wei Wuxian put his finger on his chin, thinking. ”I think... if Lan Zhan's the one who made a mistake, ZeWu-Jun would never hit him... right?” he asked and looked at Lan Wangji.
Lan Wangji nodded in confirmation, his face so serious.
Jiang Cheng frowned. ”So what are you saying?” he asked. ”That Jin Guangyao doesn't matter that much to that person?” he asked, his forehead knotted.
”That's not it.” Wei Wuxian said. ”What I'm saying is that – ” he looked at him. ” – Jin Guangyao may be close to ZeWu-Jun, but not to the point he could forgive him even though he made grave mistakes – ” he explained.
The knot on Jiang Cheng's forehead only got deeper. ”I really don't get it, nor you – ” he told him.
”You won't ever get Wei Ying – ” Lan Wangji muttered, his voice low as he coldly gaze at Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng frowned. I don't have any plans to get this airhead, either – he thought.
But, Wei Wuxian continued, didn't notice the two's expressions (since he's really an airhead). ”I mean, Jin Guangyao may be ZeWu-Jun's sworn brother, but he's not of the same level as Lan Zhan – ” he explained.
”But of course. He's (LWJ) his brother - !” Jiang Cheng told the obvious fact to him.
Wei Wuxian frowned. ”Of course I know that!” he said, feeling wronged. ”You don't understand – ” he told him.
”That's because you're not explaining it well – ” Jiang Cheng sighed.
Wei Wuxian's eyes narrowed as he pouted, now really is wronged. ”What I'm trying to say is that – ”
