30 First Martial Technique (1/2)
”I'm gonna choose the hammer!” Shi Li shouted out of the blue which shocked Moddy who was currently contemplating about something.
”Nya! You scared me-nya!” Moddy frowned. ”Anyways, what's that about a hammer-nya?”
Shi Li turned his head to Moddy and chuckled for a bit before apologizing. ”Haha sorry sorry. Well the hammer is going to be my main weapon for my cultivation.”
”Why the hammer-nya? Aren't swords or sabers better-nya?” Moddy didn't understand as to why Shi Li chose the hammer.
”Your memories awakened again, Moddy?”
”Nya,” Moddy nodded. ”But seriously-nya, why the hammer-nya?”
”Well swords and sabers have a plethora of ways to be countered, making it the worst weapon to choose. If I used a hammer, it would catch the enemy off-guard, making it easy to defeat them. Plus there are only a few ways to counter it if it's big and fast.”
”You've got a point there-nya,” Moddy nodded after hearing Shi Li's side. ”So are you going tochoose your martial technique-nya?”
Shi Li shook his head. ”Not now, let's choose your cultivation technique for now. Getting to the Third Stage of Skin Tempering without a cultivation technique will leave you a bad foundation for the higher realms.”
Shi Li then walked towards the bookshelves where the cultivation techniques were placed.
...
”Here we are, Moddy. The bookshelves that have the cultivation techniques,” Shi Li said as he looked at the three bookshelves in front of him.
Three weeks ago, he also came here to these bookshelves to pick his cultivation technique. It was also around that time that he found the red pearl that changed his cultivation speed for the better.
'Now that I think about it, where could that red pearl be inside my brain?' The thought passed Shi Li's mind as he looked at Moddy frowning at the techniques available.
”What's wrong Moddy? These techniques too low of a grade for you?”
Moddy shook its head. ”That's not really it-nya. The problem is that...these techniques are suited for humans-nya. I'm a cat-nya.”
Shi Li put his palm over his head as he shok his head left to right. How could he forget about that?
'I forgot that humans and felines have a different body structure, which means their meridians are also in different places. If a cat forcefully cultivated a human cultivation technique, then it would be detrimental to them. Same goes vice versa according to those novels I've read.'
'But wait...I remember fixing the Skin Tempering Foundation Manual with my eye, becoming a Middle Earth grade technique. Would this be cultivatable for Moddy?'
Shi Li brought out the cultivation technique which he always placed on his waist and gave it to Moddy.
”How about this technique Moddy?”
Moddy received the technique with both paws and started to read it page by page. At the start, its eyes glistened but dimmed down as it neared the end.
Moddy gave the technique back to Shi Li and sighed. ”Nya...the technique looks great, but it's only 50% suitable for my body-nya. I wonder if there are cultivation techniques for cats here-nya.”
'Oh? 50% suitable? So fixing the flaws of a technique would allow it to be cultivatable by other species? So when the flaws of a technique goes down to 0, it would be cultivatable by any species?'
”I'll definitely have to try and get the flaws of a technique to 0, then,” Shi Li muttered to himself.
”What was that-nya?” Moddy raised its head as it heard Shi Li murmur something.
”Ah, it's nothing,” Shi Li stood up. ”Let's go and find a suitable cultivation technique for you.” He then waved his hand, urging Moddy to hop to his left shoulder. Once Moddy was comfortable on Shi Li's shoulder, they continued to walk through the library.
...
”Plant cultivation techniques...Poison cultivation techniques...Canine cultivation techniques...Ah! Feline cultivation techniques!”
After twenty minutes of continuous walking, they were able to find a bookshelf filled with cultivation techniques for cats. The wood making up the bookshelf was quite dusty and had cracks everywhere, its joints rusty as well, showing that it wasn't used much.
”Moddy, have you ever thought that these cultivation techniques are made for the cultivator's pets?” Shi Li asked.
”Probably-nya. It's still a cultivation technique suitable for me nonetheless-nya,” Moddy shrugged its shoulders, taking whatever it can get.
It then jumped down from Shi Li's shoulder and started to look through the techniques available on the bookshelf, which were quite few.
”Hmm... nope....nope...nope...nyeh...ooooh...nyahahaha! This is the one-nya!”
After a few minutes of rummaging through the techniques, Moddy gave an old book to Shi Li, which was definitely a feline cultivation technique.
Shi Li wiped his hand over the book to remove the dust as he read its title.
