Chapter 9: Story 9 (2/2)
Song Shilin reads his silence as consent and leaves the preschool class with little Watermelon.
However, when they pass through the other class, they see that there are three children looking at him in horror, which include a butterball vigilantly holding his pants with the fearful expression.
Song Shilin, “...”
Song Shilin knows that he is unpopular for the children. But it is rare that a child is afraid of him like that at the first time.
Song Shilin finds that little Watermelon stays in silent in his arms and the three children who keep vigilance not far away. His eyebrows wrinkle, and he probably understands the reason.
The preschool class is private. The staff won’t allow strangers to casually take the children away except their parents. After all, the children are precious for their family. They can’t afford it if the children have accidents.
However, when Song Shilin leaves the preschool class with little Watermelon, nobody stops him.
Teacher Chen has never appeared from the beginning to the end.
Song Shilin sits in the back seat with little Watermelon in his arms and faintly says, “Drive to Song’s Hotel.”
The bald driver focuses on driving without distractions. He isn’t curious about the child holding in Mr. Song’s arms. He accelerates without asking any questions and leaves here quickly.
*
Bo Yu who is filming sneezes suddenly and his right eyelid keeps jumping. He has a foreboding of bad things.
“What’s wrong?” Mo Anyu asks him.
Bo Yu comes to his sense and smiles, “Nothing happened. Keep going.”

After arriving at the destination, Song Shilin takes the child who is still unwilling to move in his arms, gets off to the private room where he usually stays and says, “What do you prefer to eat?”
The waiter complaisantly opens the menu and hands it over to them.
Little Watermelon slowly looks up from Song Shilin’s arms and looks at the menu with curiosity.
He can’t recognize Chinese characters, but he can understand the picture. And then he clicks on the picture of a few dishes and stays in Song Shilin’s arms in a daze.
“Uncle, are we going to look for Papa?” Little Watermelon says, almost breaking into tears.
Song Shilin nods calmly, ignoring the wetness on the neck.
Little Watermelon is so excited that he even forgets to wipe off the tears. He says, “Can uncle help me braid my hair?”
His ponytail is loose, which is deliberately dispelled by the butterball. As he will meet Bo Yu later, he has to ask someone to braid his hair.
Song Shilin has never braided the ponytail before and wants to refuse him. But when he sees little Watermelon saying with red eyes, he doesn’t know how to express his opinions.
“What is your name?” Song Shilin changes the subject.
“Bo Yanting. Uncle, you can call me little Watermelon.” Little Watermelon slowly calms down. When he recalls that his Papa is afraid of the uncle after coming home from the supermarket, he quickly moves away from him.
For as long as he can remember, Bo Yu tells him that he can’t leave with the strangers especially someone who claims to be Papa’s friend.
However, little Watermelon needs the reliable embrace for comfort because of the excessive sadness.
Therefore, Song Shilin not only makes little Watermelon have the sense of safety, but also makes him feel good about Song Shilin. So, he is unknowingly taken out of the preschool class.
Song Shilin lowers the eyes and looks at little Watermelon who honestly sits in the chair, barely revealing with half a head, and his lips close tightly as a straight line.
After coming to his sense, Song Shilin has the same worries as little Watermelon. He feels embarrassed to take little Watermelon to meet Bo Yu.
Song Shilin and Bo Yu haven’t seen each other for two years. When Song Shilin meets his ex-boyfriend Bo Yu, there is a child with Bo Yu, that makes Song Shilin angry and more disappointed.
However, nobody notices Song Shilin’s psychological activity because he is reserved.
Song Shilin and little Watermelon sit properly with their own secrets in the heart without continuing to say anything. Until the waiter pushes the dining car into the room, the awkward embarrassment is bridged.
Song Shilin says, “Is there a child seat?”
Little Watermelon feels annoying because he cannot see the meal until he stands up and holds the dining table with his hands. When hearing what Song Shilin says, he gratefully glances at Song Shilin.
The waiter shakes the head with the embarrassed expression. “Someone books the whole third floor. Most of people take children. So, the child seats are all used.”
Song Shilin frowns, implying that the waiter who has served all dishes should leave.
The waiter breathes a sigh of relief and hurriedly leaves the private room.
After going out of the door of the private room, the waiter regrets that it is rare for him to meet Mr. Song, but he makes a bad impression in front of the big boss. Shit!
Song Shilin doesn’t think so much. When he sees little Watermelon wanting to stand in the chair to eat, he frowns, lets him sit down, and then personally distributes the dish on a plate to feed him.
Little Watermelon happily opens his mouth with the bright eyes. He chews food and his mouth is full.
Mr. Song who used to do something seriously really enjoys the feeling of feeding the mini version of Bo Yu, especially when little Watermelon shows the happy expression. Mr. Song’s lips that have been closed tightly have a rare arc.
