1 Spirited Away to Another World (1/2)
On the twelve floor of a building, an auditorium was finishing its classes.
Walking away from the door of an auditorium was a youth in his 20's, he was a third year named Cheng Xuan complaining about his schedule.
”Finally, I can go home now. Why did all my classes have to end until 7p.m. anyway?”
Behind him were voices of others ignoring his leave.
”Hey did you see the new movie coming this fall?”
”No, I haven't want to watch it together, but you're to paying cause it was your idea.”
”Alright!”
Still inside was a group of teens chatting, laughing, and comparing their interest.
He, however, ignored them as well, for him such people weren't his friends.
He never had any friends in the university in fact, since they were all born with a silver spoon, he was sure they're not even close, their only connection was that there from wealthy families.
He couldn't bring himself to be friends who only sought out for benefits.
He had to work in the night just to pay his rent, and only ate in the morning for his classes, it was like that since his parents passed away, six years ago.
He eventually learned that money wasn't easy to earn, the money that was left for him was used up for his tuition so he had to use it sparingly.
”I have no night-shift today, guess I should go home.”
He walked towards the hallway to the elevator, his goal was the ground floor.
”…”
???
”…”
He was starting to hear voices when he entered, must be due to exhaustion, he checked the time in his phone, it was nearing eight.
The sound the elevator reverted to his ears for about two minutes. Until he heard an out of place sound.
*CRASH!!!!*
Being startled from the sudden crash, he fell down to the ground, the elevator started shaking violently, the air started turning cold that he could see his breath, and his skin crawled from the increasing whispers, telling him to 'pay the ghost'.
Panicking from what was happening, he headed to the panel, and started pressing repeatedly the emergency button, out of desperation he started bashing the button with his fist.
After feeling his surrounding changed, he cornered himself against the wall to avoid the invisible specters, soon the sensation of falling came to him, the ground felt like there was no gravity and the elevator fell at a very frightening pace.
He heard screeching of metal going past his ears, getting louder and louder.
Panicking for his life he clutched on the rails for dear life.
The realization of death came to him, once the he hit the ground his life would end.
His life flashed before his eyes, he saw his childhood. with his mother sitting by his side on the porch reading him a book, his father was lifting him on his shoulder while he held his hands, and then he saw them lying on the ground not moving.
He whispered 'I'm sorry mother, father I can't fulfill a wonderful life like you wanted.'
It was at that moment, everything in that room turned dark.
***
Still inside the auditorium, the group of students from before were still chatting.
”Crap, the time is already 8:00, we should leave now before they close the gates”
”Hey that reminds me of something, did you guys hear about an urban myth about this school?”
”Oh, what myth, sounds interesting, tell us about it.”
The others started to hear the story, since it piqued their interest it was summarized like this:
There once was a group of student who volunteered to help renovate an old building in the campus, however, there was a talk that a ghost was in the building so they had to place offering by the entrance before they could enter.
Each one had to give an offering, it can either food or money.
In the end, they can get them back at the end of the day.
The previous owner had given a warning never use the elevator at night if no offerings were placed, so they followed it, unknowingly, one of them didn't place any offerings, fearing that the money he placed will be taken, when they entered they felt a chill past them, but it didn't stop them from working.
At the end of the day, everyone came out except for one.
They assumed he had gone home before him, so they ignored the issue.
But as the days go by, because they started to ignore the offerings, more and more people never showed after the next day, no one knew what become of them…
”…”
”OK, that sounds creepy.”
”Wait a minute, the story doesn't sound complete.” A girl cut in the conversation.
”Yeah, the thing is I only heard about it when a senior was researching the history of the school for her thesis, and she found the urban tale form an old diary, the rest of the text had faded over the years, so no one knows the whole story.”
”…”
”By the way, didn't the professor say there used to be an elevator here before, but was closed down.”
”Don't know, never seen the elevator from the ground being used anyway.”
”…”
It was at that moment, no one noticed that the person who left first never went down with them or walked in front of them, he had spirited away to another world.
