62 Feelings (1/2)
”An Wei… are you…”
XuanRong wanted to ask him and confirm her suspicion but in the end, she decided not to ask about it. Whether he was really that person or not, she vowed that she would not care. It was all in the past and he decided to cut off his connection with that old bastard.
*sigh*
After sighing, XuanRong shook her head.
”Never mind, no matter who you are, no matter what your identity is, you will always be An Wei.” XuanRong spoke while looking at the moon.
When An Wei heard XuanRong's words, he could not help but turn his head towards her and stare at her face. The moon was very bright and brought light to the surroundings. An Wei could see XuanRong's face clearly. She looked very beautiful under the moon, like a goddess that had descended from the heaven. An Wei's eyes was almost blinded by her but he could not move away his gaze.
Sensing An Wei's deep gaze, XuanRong turned her head.
”What?”
XuanRong thought that An Wei was behaving in a weird manner because he was startled by her words.
”You did not expect that I would trust you like this?”
XuanRong smiled and jokingly continued, ”Heh. My trust is very expensive, you have to swear that you will not betray me and would always be by my side.”
After uttering those words, XuanRong once again raised her head and stared at the moon. Since she was not looking at An Wei, she did not see his fervent gaze as if he was looking at his most treasured possession.
”Mmm… This servant will always be with Young Miss. No matter where Young Miss go, this servant will follow.”
”En! You promised!” Not removing her gaze from the moon, XuanRong happily accepted An Wei's vow.
XuanRong did not know when she started feeling sleepy. She dozily leaned her body towards An Wei until her head touched his shoulder.
When An Wei felt XuanRong's head on his shoulder, he froze. His heart was beating really fast as if he was being chased by a bunch of horses.
*badump*
*badump*
*badump*
An Wei inhaled a couple of times to calm his heart. Although he was panicking inside, he still tried to stay motionless, fearing that the moment he moves, XuanRong would wake up. Few minutes later, An Wei could no longer suppress his desire to look at XuanRong. He slowly moved his gaze away from the moon and stared at the beautiful maiden sleeping on his shoulder.
XuanRong was sleeping blissfully as if she was very comfortable. Her narrow lips what were as pink as cherries were slightly parted with each other while her long eyelashes slowly flutter as she sleeps.
An Wei gulped. Ever since he decided to cast away his lineage and live as one of Chen Zi Tao's shadow guard, he vowed not to want anything. He swore that he would only live for the sake of General Chen and his family in order to repay his kindness. He did not expect that he would meet this young girl five years ago and would even develop feelings for her.
At first, when he saw her, she was still a young girl in his eyes. Although she would act older than her current age sometimes, he still viewed her as a young child. He did not know when it started. He did not know when he started having feelings for her.
Was it when he was slapped on the face?
Or was it when he saw her dedication in learning qinggong?
Or maybe when she cried when her master died in her embrace?
An Wei could no longer remember when he started seeing her as a woman and not as a young child. He just woke up one morning and realized that the young girl who only reached his hips five years ago was now able to stare at him, face to face.
Looking at her unguarded face, sleeping peacefully, An Wei could not help himself but want to touch it.
Slowly, he raised his head, planning to feel her soft cheeks but in the end, he pulled it back and clenched it under his sleeves.
He knew, XuanRong viewed him not as a man but as a person similar to a brother or a close kin.
He knew he should have killed those feelings before it successfully bloomed, but he failed. He could only stare at her every day until his feelings grew bit by bit. Five years passed, and it was still the same.
An Wei could only sigh and stare back at the moon, trying to forget the soft feeling of having the woman you like sleep on your shoulder.
