38 Affection for the Wed (1/2)
That small attack on the Crown Prince was his first warning, that is if he understood it.
Xiao Jun and Yun Long stayed in Han, planning to stay for a good few months to get their revenge. Both for the people and for themselves. The needle that Xiao Jun had sent into the Crown Prince was still undetected and the Imperial Physician was clueless as to what had happened to him.
Dressed in Han clothing, the couple disguised themselves as commoners and bought themselves a small home in the city. Xiao Jun gave herself the name Daiyu and Yun Long used the name Yijun. Xiao Jun hid her face by wearing a mask over her left eye and Yun Long had a mask covering half of his face. When asked, she would say that she was scarred from a bandits sword and Yun Long would say his scar was from a fire.
A couple months passed and the Crown Prince began to decline in health. They would constantly send small little letters to the Crown Prince, when he passed on the street with his carriage, Yun Long would shoot an arrow into the carriage and disappear into the crowd, throwing the bow into a nearby flame. At the end of the arrow was a note saying: be wary of those you eliminate.
Xiao Jun would stand patiently outside the small house, looking like an obedient wife waiting for her husband to come back. But the only reason why she was waiting was because the Crown Prince also passed their little home, when he did, she would make herself look pitiful and gazed at him sadly, as if giving him hints of who she was.
The Crown Prince, who was already nearing the end of his life, was frightened so much when the arrow stuck inside his cage and he had started to bring more guards with him.
Who was attacking him?
What was all this supposed to mean? A possible uprising?
When he passed through another street, there was always a woman who stood sadly, the look in her eyes looking oddly familiar to the eyes of the old general, Huo Yun Long's wife, Feng Xiao Jun. He shook his head and forced himself to look away but that little smile playing on her lips kept his eyes on her, giving him shivers.
Who was she?
What animosity did a common woman hold towards him, the Crown Prince?
But that day, he saw a man walk up to her and she gave him the kindest smile he had ever seen since she started to appear. Feeling intrigued, he stopped the carriage and got out, attracting the attention of the people, who got onto their knees and bowed.
