”Oh, Chief Warden, perfect. I was just ending the healing massage and thought of finding you soon. Glad you came instead.” Dongmei said as she did a few more rubs on Wuxing's shoulder and finally stood up. She acted as if it was normal for her to do such massages for her patients.
Her private guards who saw that from behind the doors looked at each other and promised in their minds to never leave their miss alone ever again. She never did any healing massages like that and they knew that she was lying.
”Miss Guan, I'm sorry for the intrusion, but I have something I wish to ask you.” Chief Warden came to scold her but he still had to be polite with her. He couldn't allow himself to anger her by accident.
”I know what you are going to ask. I killed that guard because he was guilty of trying to kill the gentleman here. We don't need such guards here, right?” Dongmei explained her actions before he could even ask and she turned towards Wuxing for confirmation while patting his head.
Wuxing picked Dongmei's hand and put it away from his head naturally without hesitating and said, ”Chief Warden, I thought you promised me that no one will bother me here? How come I'm getting almost killed by your guards? Never heard of warning shots being shot at the prisoners' heads. If I didn't dodge two bullets I would be dead already.”
”Well, that's what I came here for. To apologize for this incident. The guard probably got paid to do so by someone else, but now that he is dead, we can't get the information from who.” The Chief Warden issued the apology, sighing in his mind. The scolding turned into blaming session against him.
”Well, isn't that obvious who did it?” Dongmei asked, showing full support for Wuxing.
”Even if it is, it's complicated. We would have as many troubles if we locked him down as in case if prisoner Li Wuxing died. We don't have enough evidence and Seven Stars would definitely investigate it later on. I already issued the notice that he will lose his status as a new Warden. I don't need to provide a reason to keep anyone in my prison.” Chief Warden explained his dilemmas.
”It's okay, I understand. Can I at least hope for my previous request to be accepted?” Wuxing asked not bothered by the Long Qing issue. He already had a plan to get rid of him.
”That's right. Wuxing is innocent and I believe him. Why is he even here?” Dongmei interrupted them again and questioned the poor Chief Warden.
”Miss Guan… Prisoners are just sent here, I couldn't do anything to stop them… I will try to contact the lawyer outside which can represent prisoner Li Wuxing.” Chief Warden gave up under Dongmei pressure and agreed.
”Good. Also, I want to move Wuxing to my apartment. I need to take care of his wounds in peace. He needs to properly recuperate.” Dongmei nodded and commanded leaving no room for questions, giving a vibe as if she was the real Chief Warden in this room.
”Miss Guan isn't it inappropriate...? His status is still that of a prisoner. We can't leave him with you without any protection.” Hearing her request Chief Warden finally had to disagree. Her private guards also nodded with their heads, agreeing with Chief Warden decision.
”Didn't we already agree upon the fact that he is innocent? He should be free very soon anyway. Look how gentle he is? Do you think he can hurt me?” Dongmei had a different opinion about this and asked while rubbing Wuxing cheeks. He was actually caught off guard, not knowing if he should stop her or push her away, but then decided to let her be. She was fighting for him after all.
”Miss… Don't create problems for me… This will definitely start rumours…” Chief Warden pleaded, knowing the negative effects it would bring, while also at the same time wondering what magic did Wuxing use on the cold Miss Guan to make her fight for him like this and act so friendly towards him.
Unfortunately, she cut him off, ending the discussion with words, ”I don't care about rumours. Just tell everyone he is recuperating after the gunshots. I already decided,” before she pointed at her two guards, saying, ”You two, take him and follow me to my apartment. No more questions.”
It left the Chief Warden speechless, but there nothing he could do with her behaving like that. He was also scared of her background, so he couldn't push her too much.
...….
'I guess the pain was worth it… Now it doesn't even feel like I'm being in prison.' Wuxing sat down on the bed and looked around the apartment thinking in surprise. He didn't expect for there to be such a luxurious penthouse apartment at the top of the hospital building.
