Chapter 171 - Someone Messed With Their Minds. (1/2)

”So someone was messing with your minds?” Hecathe asked with a frown as he straightened his back.

LeiLei nodded her head with a frown as she confirmed this.

”Did you meet the person that did it?” Hecathe asked curiously and this time, LeiLei shook her head.

”We couldn't. We left the place soon after,” LeiLei explained, ”If we had stayed then there would have been more traps waiting for us and we didn't want to risk it.”

Hecathe couldn't help but feel a little disappointed and concerned as he heard this.

Someone who could mess with their minds and make them hallucinate...

This was certainly going to be troublesome.

”We'll have to go back,” Hecathe spoke with a sigh and LeiLei looked to be a bit shocked as she heard this.

”Sir, we can't,” LeiLei firmly spoke with a frown, ”It's too dangerous. If we get too immersed in the illusion, we might never even wake up from it and in the worst-case scenario, it might really kill us.”

”Then we'll just have to avoid the worst-case scenario,” Hecathe shrugged his shoulders as he responded and LeiLei's frown deepened as she felt that the man was not exactly taking her words seriously.

”Sir, I have already warned you. If you don't listen to me then there is nothing more I can do for you. You can go if you'd like but it's definitely not going to be safe and I'm not going to take responsibility for this.”

Hecathe let out a small chuckle as he heard this and looked to be quite amused as he asked, ”Who said I was going alone?”

LeiLei's eyes widened slightly as she heard this and in the very next second, the girl shook her head frantically as she refused, ”Definitely not! I'm not coming there again! There's absolutely no way!”

Hecathe tilted his head and there was a small smirk on his face as he spoke, ”I never asked for your permission.”

”...”

LeiLei couldn't help but feel unhappy as she heard this and her dissatisfaction could clearly be seen on her face as the girl pouted.

Hecathe let out a sigh as he spoke and added, ”I don't want to be the forceful type of a boss, but this time, I really can't let you have your own way. This is something that is related to you much more than it is related to me and that's why you need to be there.”

LeiLei heard him and understood him as well, but whether she was willing to go or not was another story entirely.

It took another thirty minutes of constant argument for Hecathe to get the girl to agree and even when she eventually did give in, she still looked extremely unhappy about it.

”By the way, where is Marvin?” Hecathe asked casually and the girl gulped as she looked away from him awkwardly.

Hecathe's eyebrows creased together as he saw this reaction which clearly spoke to him. He had a feeling that Marvin wasn't really in the best condition possible.

”LeiLei, where is Marvin,” Hecathe asked as he dragged the sentence, almost making it seem as if he was asking a child if she had done something wrong or not.

LeiLei grinned as she scratched the back of her neck and spoke in a low volume that almost sounded embarrassed, ”I... Well, remember the part where I told you that he punched me?”

Hecathe nodded his head as he patiently waited for the girl to complete.

”I couldn't just let him get away with it so I punched him back,” LeiLei revealed with an awkward grin and Hecathe had a feeling that there was still something that the girl was hiding.

”Is that it?” Hecathe asked as he raised his eyebrows.

LeiLei pursed her lips and nodded before she added, ”Maybe I might have used a rock as well.”

”...”

”But thankfully, there are no broken bones!” LeiLei immediately exclaimed as she reassured and Hecathe didn't know if he was supposed to laugh or cry as he heard this.

”His punches are really too strong!” LeiLei tried to defend her actions as she explained, ”It was so strong that I almost felt as if I was hit with a rock so I took an actual rock and clutched it tightly in my hand before punching him back.”

”LeiLei,” Hecathe sighed as he shook his head and felt a little pity for the poor boy, ”Where is he, and what is his condition currently?”

LeiLei sighed as she spoke in a single breath, ”He passed out when I punched him and then I picked him up and dumped him in his room. He's asleep now.”
