Chapter 107 - Where The Bad Naming Sense Came From. (1/2)
Hecathe had somehow managed to catch the girl by surprise through that question and she gulped as she shook her head.
LeiLei suddenly grabbed Hecathe's hand as she spoke and although Hecathe didn't show it on his face, he had certainly noticed this small action and found it a bit abnormal, ”I don't know but if I remember it right, they hated my real name.”
”So they changed it into a dog's name...?!” Hecathe asked in disbelief as he looked at the girl.
LeiLei nodded her head as she heard this question and immediately shook her head as if she wasn't supposed to nod her head.
”I really don't mind it...!” The girl exclaimed softly.
”You don't mind having the name of a dog?” Hecathe's eyes narrowed down on the girl as he questioned.
LeiLei hesitantly nodded her head this time as she mustered up a smile and spoke, ”I have grown accustomed to it. It's really not a bad name.”
”...”
Even the Dorgon looked as if he felt pity for this girl and commented with a sigh, ”That explains her horrible naming sense. Can't really expect her to give me a better name than Eggy when her own name is LeiLei.”
Hecathe frowned as he looked at the girl and wondered why those two would hate her original name.
The girl had a really unique ability and everything that Hecathe had heard about her till now somehow didn't seem to make any sense.
In this world, abilities were considered to be the social footing.
If one had a common ability that was not powerful, they would be considered as the common people. If one had a powerful ability that was common, they would be considered as the elites who were treated better than the common people. And if someone had a rare strong ability, they would even be considered as the next leaders of this world.
This was also the reason why people looked up to Alphius when he was at the peak of his popularity and was just starting off. Later on, they realized that having a leader like Alphius might not be the best for them and so, they started to fear the man instead. What started as fear, due to the widespread rumors and misunderstandings, eventually turned into disgust and hatred.
Hecathe almost found it a bit funny that abilities were considered to be the power in this world when in reality, their abilities were not even as powerful as their words.
Words held a lot of power and this was a lesson that Hecathe had learned even before he was invited to this world.
Thoughts were powerful and words that gave those thoughts a chance to be heard were even more powerful. It was a power that most human beings were born with and maybe that was the reason why people never thought about how powerful their words could be.
In the end, Alphius who was considered to be a bit too powerful was also killed by his own friend because of words spoken by someone who knew how much influence his own words held.
”What are you thinking so deeply about?” The girl let go of Hecathe's hand and leaned in closer to the man as she questioned and this managed to snap the man out of his thoughts.
”Huh?” Hecathe shook his head as he shrugged it off, ”I was just wondering who that bastard was.”
”Bastard...?” LeiLei repeated and looked to be interested as she asked, ”Are you after someone?”
Hecathe nodded his head with a sigh as he spoke, ”Didn't I already tell you? I'm currently after a whale and you're also here because of him.”
LeiLei gulped as she heard this and nodded her head in understanding.
”Master, you're after a whale?” The Dorgon sounded even more enthusiastic than the girl as he questioned, ”Whales are my favorite! They are big and delicious!”
Hecathe didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this.
”Have you even eaten a whale?” Hecathe rubbed his forehead in disbelief as he questioned.
Dorgon, ”...”
”Eh?” The girl tilted her head in confusion as Hecathe's question was the only thing she could hear, however, Heathe didn't need to explain himself this time as LeiLei figured it out for herself and looked at the Dorgon.
”In any case, you might not like eating this specific whale,” Hecathe added with a sigh and the Dorgon suddenly looked to be dejected.
”Sir, I've been meaning to say this but is this your ability?” LeiLei leaned in forward enthusiastically as she questioned.
”What do you mean?” Hecathe asked as he met her eyes.
”Your ability is to talk to animals, is it not?” The girl tilted her head innocently as she asked and Hecathe almost choked on empty air as he heard this.
