Chapter 86 - The Next Mission? (1/2)
At first, the mutants looked to be a little hesitant, however, they still reluctantly walked forward and gave up their beads, placing them on his hand one by one.
Hecathe yawned as he started counting the mutant beads and he seemed to have already realized that this was going to at least take him a couple of minutes.
After a few minutes, when the hundred mutant beads had been collected, Hecathe ordered for them to stop and put the mutant beads down on the floor before taking a rock and smashing the beads with it.
By hitting them with the rock, he was turning expensive pure mutant beads to normal collected mutant beads that could indeed fetch you some good cash but would still be a lot cheaper than the pure mutant beads.
If one were to see him doing this, they would certainly be forced to believe that he was a madman and they would fail to see through his plan.
Hecathe was damaging the beads because he didn't want to gain any extra unwanted attention. If he were to go back with hundred pure mutant beads, he would become the talk of the city, and the rumor that he had worked hard to spread may turn into nothing because of Hecathe's achievement which would certainly serve as the new, more spicy rumor.
After damaging more than fifty beads, Hecathe suddenly stopped as he decided to pocket some of the left pure beads.
When he was done pocketing the pure mutant beads, he picked up all the damaged ones and wrapped them in a piece of cloth that acted as a bag.
His ten minutes were almost up so Hecathe stood in a single spot and waited to be transported back.
While waiting, he looked down at the dead mutant corpses and his eyes seemed to have narrowed down on them as he thought about something.
The Dorgon had clearly said that human meat was disgusting but he also said that he could digest any other type of meat.
If the Dorgon could eat the mutant meat then wouldn't that save Hecathe a lot of money? He would also not have to trouble himself every day by going to the meat shop.
Hecathe had no plans of taking back this mutant corpse at this moment, but he did indeed plan on asking the Dorgon about his thoughts on mutant meat.
When the ten minutes that he was given were up, Hecathe was transported back to the guild room where Kelly was waiting for him with a small smirk on her face.
”Did you have fun?” The woman asked as she looked at the man up and down as if trying to check whether he had any injuries on him or not.
Most members that went into a mutant cave would come back with some injuries. Even Kelly who had a lot of practice with it was still not able to return completely unharmed. She would at least get a little scratched even if all things went well inside the cave.
Hecathe smiled as he stretched his hand out forward and handed the damaged mutant beads over to Kelly, ”It was more boring than I expected it to be.”
Kelly chuckled as she heard this and she immediately started counting the mutant beads while she questioned, ”I wonder if all the mutants were sleeping. They didn't even leave a scratch on you.”
Hecathe's eyes widened slightly in panic as he realized that he forgot to get himself a little hurt in the mission.
”It's probably because they are too scared to leave a scratch,” Hecathe coughed as he tried to use his overconfidence as a shield, ”Or maybe they tried but were simply too powerless compared to me.”
Kelly almost choked on empty air as she heard this self-conceited response, but she didn't bother saying anything to refute that as she continued calculating the beads cautiously.
Hecathe gulped as he hoped that the woman would not think too much about it, however, since Kelly was always stingy with her expressions, her mind could not be easily guessed.
”A hundred and two,” Kelly spoke as she peeked up at Hecathe, ”You really took my words seriously?”
Hecathe nodded his head with a smug smirk as he questioned, responding, ”How could I not when you've already paid me two million to do everything you tell me to do.”
”You're surprisingly a man of your words, ”Kelly commented as she looked at Hecathe with an indecipherable expression, ”As expected, you're going to be of help.”
”I can definitely be of help but I hope you don't keep sending me to those mutant caves,” Hecathe sighed as he complained, ”That place stinks.”
Kelly smiled as she heard this and shook her head as she replied, ”You don't need to worry about it. I have another very important job for you.”
Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he heard this and paid attention to the woman as he waited for her to continue.
”Before I give you the job, I need to first make sure that you're capable enough,” Kelly spoke up as she took a step forward towards Hecathe.
”I thought I had already proved my capabilities,” Hecathe responded with a frown.
”You've proven that you are very good with beating mutants, but this job has almost nothing to do with mutants.”
