Chapter 76 - Murder?! (1/2)
”Whose murder are you planning first thing in the morning?” The woman asked and she didn't sound like she was joking as she sighed, however, Hecathe still laughed as he heard her
”There is someone who seems to be very eager to get killed by me,” Hecathe spoke up with an amused tone as he informed, ”But you don't know him. He's trapped in what appears to be an eggshell.”
The woman frowned as she heard this answer that had only managed to make her more concerned about her new tenant.
”Is that a metaphor?” She asked in worry but Hecathe shook his head as a response.
”Don't worry about it. I don't plan on murdering anyone today,” Hecathe added with a chuckle as he clearly noticed the worry reflected on her face.
Her eyes narrowed down on the man and she didn't look to be very convinced however she still went into the kitchen and brought back a knife for Hecathe.
Hecathe smiled as he grabbed the knife and thanked the women before turning and walking back up the stairs.
The landlady couldn't help but be even more worried as she saw this.
”Does he plan on murdering the other tenant?” She muttered under her breath as she questioned but there was naturally nobody there to give her a definite answer.
Just when she thought Hecathe had left, she heard footsteps coming down the stairs.
”What's for breakfast, by the way?” Hecathe questioned urgently making it seem as if the reason why he urgently turned around and came back down was to simply ask this question.
The woman gulped and blinked in surprise as she took a minute to respond, ”Breakfast would be served soon... Do you have anything special that you would like to eat?”
Hecathe smiled as he heard that latter question, ”Chicken sandwiches, please.”
The landlady was a bit surprised to hear this since there weren't many people that would like to eat chicken sandwiches in the morning itself but she still smiled as she nodded in understanding and responded, ”Got it. I'll make some delicious chicken sandwiches for you.”
”Then I'll thank you for it,” Hecathe nodded as he turned around once again and headed up the stairs, back to his room.
”You seem to be getting along well with him,” It was Zail who commented as he saw this entire exchange.
The landlady turned to look at him and chuckled as she nodded her head, ”Of course we have to get along well. If you need to get something out of someone, you need to first treat them right so that they can trust you.”
”To get something out?” Zail repeated the woman's words as his misunderstanding of the situation deepened.
For him, it sounded as if this woman was deeply in love with Hecathe and would do anything to get him.
Such determination... He kinda admired it.
”Do you want chicken sandwiches as well?” The woman asked him and Zail thought about it for a minute before sighing.
”Just make me the everyday breakfast. It won't be special anymore if you make it for everyone.” Zail mutter the latter half under his breath, however, the woman was still able to hear it, but although she heard it, she was unable to understand the meaning behind it.
”Okay,” The landlady tilted her head in confusion before nodding as she responded in understanding.
”And remember that I'll always be here to help you,” Zail added with a determined tone and the landlady blinked in confusion.
