33 Chapter 31 - Izumi (1/2)
Trisha died. I gave her medicine and all secretly and she lived up to 1907, but who knew she will die from an Ishvalan terrorist attack. This was a major blow to the Elric brothers since they were dependent on her maternal love ever since Hohenheim left them. Since they didn't have parents, I decided to take over as their uncle. And since the brothers were friends with Winry, the Rockbells also helped us out a few times.
The brothers during the funeral were grieving and were whispering to each other about reviving her back with Alchemy. And since then, they were studying by themselves, but at one point they reach the very limits of self-studying.
”Uncle! Please teach us alchemy!” (Edward)
”Me too! Please!” (Alphonse)
I felt a small obligation to teach them, so I gave them some research notes I didn't need and some books. They finished all of it in one week and were craving more. So one by one, I tested their genius with some complex alchemic notes. They of course failed since this world's knowledge regarding chemistry was lower than SAO's. However, they were getting better.
I gave them study materials until they became around eight to seven years old until Izumi and her husband Sig came to Resembool. At the time, Edward and Alphonse were trying to stop the major flooding in Resembool with Alchemy, but they failed miserably. Then, Izumi clasped her hands and made a huge concrete wall stopping the flood. The town folks being thankful, decided to lend them somewhere to stay and eat. And Edward and Alphonse, wanted to be taught by her. So one day, they decided to bring the couple to our home.
”Please! Teach us Alchemy!” (Edward)
The brothers were refused immediately by Izumi. However, she later found out that they kids were orphans being taken care of by their uncles. And surprisingly, the uncle was the only doctor and alchemist in town.
”Nice to meet you, I'm the little kid's uncle. I'm also the town's doctor, alchemist, and engineer.” (Zhong Yuan)
”Nice meeting you. Your name was Kyofu, right? Are you by any chance an Ishvalan?” (Izumi)
”Ah yes, but I've broken my religion's code. So I've been exiled and took on a name.” (Zhong Yuan)
”Oh, can you show me what you're capable of?” (Izumi)
”No thanks, it's a secret you know? I've heard that you are pretty good alchemist yourself, why don't you try teaching my nephews?” (Zhong Yuan)
”I don't take in disciples.” (Izumi)
”How about this? You beat me in martial arts and alchemy and I'll give some research if you win, but if I win you become their master?” (Zhong Yuan)
”No thanks, I don't have a need for research.” (Izumi)
”Really? How about research regarding artificial internal organs and fixing internal injuries?” (Zhong Yuan)
Suddenly, the entire room's atmosphere changed. Sig then came to me.
”How do you know about this?” (Sig)
”I don't think you're qualified enough to speak to me like that.” (Zhong Yuan)
”...Do you really have that?” (Izumi)
”100%, I have them stored in my room.” (Zhong Yuan)
”...Let's duel.” (Izumi)
Everyone went out of the house including the brothers, wondering how their uncle will beat her. She gets on her standard pose and I just stay there carefree.
”I'll let you go first.” (Zhong Yuan)
”Don't hold back even though I'm a woman!” (Izumi)
She charges at me and tries to grapple my arm in which I just escape with ease.
”You're pretty good. I didn't know you had experience with martial arts. Why don't you teach your nephews?” (Izumi)
”I'm not that good of a teacher. Everything up to this point they are self taught.” (Zhong Yuan)
Izumi widened her eyes in surprise. She couldn't believe these kids were geniuses.
”Now, watch out from me...” (Zhong Yuan)
I take out a glove out of my coat and put it on. On it, there was my simplified light transmutation circle.
”Kids, this might hurt so close your eyes. Flashbang” (Zhong Yuan)
A bright light covered everyone's eyes and using my superhuman sense, I close in to Izumi and kick her. The moment the light fades away, she notices it and grabs my leg.
”I got you now!” (Izumi)
She tries to throw me off, but realizes how heavy my body was. So amidst of her troubles, I jump at her and get a choke hold on her with my legs.
”Tap out if you can't escape.” (Zhong Yuan)
”Tch...” (Izumi)
Knowing her dilemma, she claps her hands and touches the ground to form a pillar on me, throwing me off.
”That's pretty good, but not enough!” (Zhong Yuan)
I use one of the transmutations to further increase my speed and punch out in the air. Izumi senses something and claps her hand and makes a wall to block whatever it was coming. A shock wave appeared and break the wall protecting her.
”That's impossible...” (Izumi)
”Pretty powerful, huh? Do you admit defeat?” (Zhong Yuan)
