9 Chapter 9 - The Chaos Fairy Awakens (1/2)

The next few days in the manor passed quickly as they usually did when we were relaxing. Over half the house was absorbed in their own projects which left only Gustavo, Terri, and myself roaming around the house during the day since Katye spent her days reading in the garden while letting Raz run around. The whole household had fallen in love with the little dog who was either running between people, playing, or passed out in someone's lap.

It was the morning of Katye's fourth day that our lull came to an end. We were all sitting around the table, enjoying breakfast, when Alice interrupted the peaceful atmosphere with an announcement.

”There will be an opening in the 'Rift' tomorrow. Since Katye is removing the restraining collar today, I don't want Becca leaving so quickly. I'm sure Terri will volunteer to go with Gustavo, but is there anyone else?” Alice asked.

”I'll go, it's been awhile since I've cracked a few head,” Lesedi said as she cracked her knuckles.

”I can go as well,” Melissa offered.

”I can be available if I'm needed,” Yue added.

”Thank you. I'll be sending you all into the Fuban Tundra, so dress warmly.”

”How long is the window this time?” Gustavo asked.

”A day and a half. It shouldn't be too difficult… I've only detected Drekavacs in the area which are Russian zombies before you ask, Gustavo.”

”And everyone else knew that?”

”Unlike you, we have all finished the Beast Compendium. I bet even Katye has since it was in her stack of books,” I responded, teasing my brother.

The other girls nodded, including Katye which caused me to laugh at his expense. We finished eating breakfast and the entire group headed out for the training field since everyone wanted to see Katye's full transformation. On the off chance that the she couldn't control her powers, it was decided that the training was the safest place because of the numerous formations and wards Alice and Yue had arranged to handle me when I lost control.

As the only person who could touch her easily, I was elected to help her remove the collar with Alice standing next to me, talking me through deactivating the layers of wards on the collar. Katye had a mild blush on her face and looked away as I worked. Her mana really seemed limitless as sparks of electricity danced up and down my arms, but, just as before, there was no pain, just a strange pleasure that was messing with my suppression on my bloodline. I finished disabling the last ward and both Alice and I jumped back.

Katye gave a puzzled look at first, but the next moment, the change started. My eyes shifted to their dragon form as I watched a rainbow-colored flood of mana being pulled into her body which caused the air around her to become chaotic, whipping her clothes back and forth. Within a few seconds, vision of her was blocked by the rush of mana and, even with my human eyes, the wind kicked up so much sand that it looked like she was using the sandstorm spell I used to hide my transformation, only considerably stronger.

”Damn…” Terri said quietly.

Although no one else said anything, we all shared her feeling. No one could manifest the amount of mana that was being channeled into her and it didn't appear to be stopping soon. Finally, after a long ten minutes, the energy swirling around her began to settle and we got our first look at Katye's Chaos Fairy Bloodline form.

The first thing I noticed was her height which was now just under five feet, having lost six inches. She was beautiful before, but now her body had taken on an ethereal appearance despite the fact that her clothes were now baggy on her. Her figured had become perfectly proportion, not in a hard, muscular way as I had gone through, but her curves become fuller and there was a 'softness' that hadn't quite been there before. Her skin was pristine and was as white as fresh snow. And, as if her physical transformation wasn't enough, the air around her distorted like above a fire and crackled with electricity, much like her hair had before removing the collar, only to a larger effect.

Katye blinked a few times before lifting a hand to inspect it. A ball of violet flames suddenly appeared above her hand and she ran the fingers of her other hand through it. The tendrils of the fire wrapped themselves around her fingers, almost as if was alive and asking her to stay. She pulled the fire close to her chest where it 'sunk' into her skin and she rubbed the spot with a gentle smile.

”The moment she fully awakens, and she has already bonded with a wisp of Arcane Fire. No wonder she was the final one…” Alice said quietly.

”When you say Arcane Fire…” Lesedi started.

”Don't even think about it!” Alice, Sophia, and Yue all shouted in unison.

She gave a sheepish chuckle as she rubbed the back of her head. The outburst got Katye's attention and she looked over at us which caused the hair on the back of my neck to rise. The others felt her gaze, but no one seemed as affect as me. A hand shoved me out of the group and I looked back to find Sophia motioning to Katye with a nod.

Swallowing the antsy sensations my body was sending, I walked forward and asked, ”How are you feeling?”

”Strange,” she said then furrowed her brow and looked away as she heard the change in her voice.

”You'll get used to it with time,” I replied.

Katye looked up into my eyes, since I now stood over a foot taller than her, as her wings fluttered. My mind stalled as I was caught up in her unnatural beauty and it wasn't until Alice placed a hand on my shoulder that I finally regained my clarity.

”It looks like we can illusions and hypnosis to your list of magics,” Alice said.

”I'm sorry, I didn't…” Katye started, but was cut off by Alice's raised hand.

”No one is going to blame you for anything, Katye. You just need to start learning how to control your abilities,” Alice said with her trademarked smile that she always used when teaching all of us.

”Of course,” Katye replied with a sigh.

”Relax, you may not realize it yet, but you have an incredible aptitude for magic, no doubt, thanks to your bloodline. Controlling your innate abilities will be just as easy as using magic once you start learning.”
