Chapter 72 - Broken Heart (2/2)
Gesa was silent, refusing to give an answer as both of them froze.
”Dino has nothing to do with this…,” Gesa's hoarse voice immediately makes her mother send her a suspicious look.
”Why don't you try to be honest with me? Why? You don't believe me anymore?” Gesa's mother said.
”Mom, it's not like that, but I can't talk to you about this. I have a hard time understanding this problem. I don't want to make you worried over this matter. I don't want you to fall sick just because you are thinking about this.” Gesa speaks, trying to convince her mother.
”I want to listen to everything. I know it's not easy for you to bear everything.”
Gesa's brow furrowed at the sound of his mother's words. She cannot fool the old woman. Without saying anything, Gesa pulled the blanket and buried her body under the blanket. Gesa's Mother pulled the blanket, forcing Gesa to look at her.
”Why don't you want to talk?”
”Mother, I can't say anything now. Give me time to calm myself down.”
”Why?” Gesa's Mother asked in a disappointed tone.
Gesa didn't answer as she buried her face in her mother's hug so she could feel her heart beating.
”It hurts too much for me to say it, mother. My heart hurts,” said Gesa stuttering as the tears suddenly fell without control.
Gesa's Mother stroked her daughter's hair gently then said ”Just tell your Mother. Maybe after you tell me, you will be calmer. You look so heartbroken. Is this related to Dino? Do you like Ananya's husband?”
Gesa trembled at her mother's voice. A mother's instinct is very strong and can't be lied to. She will know when her daughter is telling the truth or lying. The girl was still hesitant to talk. She is uncomfortable talking about this topic. She was bringing her broken heart story instead of a piece of good news upon her arrival.
”Do not hesitate to tell me, dear. Am I not the only place you can always turn into? I'm ready to be a good listener for you. Speak to me, Ge.” Gesa's Mother stroked her daughter's cheek. She was full of worried and concern. She couldn't stand doing nothing when she saw her daughter suffering. Her heart screamed when she knew Gesa almost became a murder victim. Dealing with powerful people is not easy. Gesa's life is at stake.
”Mother.”
”Yes. I've always dreamt of having a husband as good as Ananya's husband. I used to admire him. I love the way the man treats his wife, very Romantic. Before Ananya died, her last wish was for me to look after Dino and Hanin. From that night on, I wanted to carry out Ananya's last will as I started to love Dino. I'm not afraid to love him anymore since Dino has become a widower. Unfortunately, I could never be his wife. Dino had married another woman. I am so unlucky. Dino's new wife is the woman who saved me and helped me all this time. Mother, why is fate so cruel to me? Why did my love story have a tragic ending?”
”My poor beautiful daughter.” The old woman hugged Gesa tightly. Her daughter was always unlucky.
”I'm unfortunate, mom.” Gesa wept bitterly. When she thought she could love a man, it turned out her love was one-sided.
Is it wrong for Gesa to fantasize about becoming Dino's wife? Is it wrong if she wants to carry out Ananya's last will? Is it wrong for her to fall in love?
The Asian brown-skinned girl pensively propped up on her chin with her left hand. Her tired eyes peeked through the slightly parted curtains as an uneasy sigh escaped her mouth. Every now and then she wiped away the tears that trickled down her smooth cheeks. Gesa wanted to stop crying, lamenting her pain because of Dino's marriage. Why did Dino marry the woman who had saved her life? Gesa is not ungrateful. There is a child that ties Dino and Rere together. She felt like an idiot. Everyone knows Dino and Rere's relationship in the past but keeps their silence and doesn't tell her about it. Her tears welled up again, wetting her eyelids and the corners of her eyes. Her mother came closer and hugged her tightly as she wanted to share the pain Gesa feels. This heartbreak hurts Gesa.
”You are not unfortunate, Ge,”
”I'm unfortunate, mom.”
