Chapter 23:Anggas Arrival ( 2 ) (1/2)

”Is that right Re?” Ainil asked for Rere's explanation.

”Is that right, Mom?”

”Is it true that Angga didn't know you were pregnant?”

”That's right, Mom,” replied Rere with sobs. Rere was forced to lie to her parents. Everything felt heavy and stifling.

Ainil sat on the sofa. Didn't expect Rere to start this problem. If Rere talked about who got her pregnant maybe the problem wouldn't be this complicated. Ainil does not need to be ashamed of having grandchildren out of wedlock. The big family even blamed Ainil for not being able to educate their only child. Rere went awry when she saw the clear grains in his mother's eyes.

”Rere,” Ainil called in a choked voice. Her eyes blankly stared ahead.

”Yes, mom.” Rere just cried answering her mother's call.

”I thought it was Angga who didn't want to be responsible, so you kept silent when we asked who Leon's real father was. You were afraid that we would hold him accountable. You know that Father and Bara will look for Angga to the end of the world to take responsibility. Just so you know that all this time Mother has hated Leon's biological father for impregnating you but not being responsible. Why did you do that? What's the reason you hid all this from Angga? Answered Mom.”

”I-I have my own reasons why I can't open your mouth. Please...understand me, Mom.”

”You have to understand Mom. Which mother can be silent when her child is pregnant out of wedlock?”

”I was the wrong auntie.” Angga doesn't want Rere to continue to be blamed. ”I made a mistake until Leon came into this world. We didn't do it on a consensual basis. I forced Rere to do it. Rere didn't want to marry the man who raped her so she kept silent when she was pregnant.”

Bug.....

Herman's blood boils when he finds out that Rere is pregnant due to ****. As a father his pride was trampled. Herman reflexively hit Angga until the man was battered.

”Enough Dad,” shouted Rere protecting Angga from Herman's tantrum.

”Let Dad teach him a lesson.”

”I beg you not to do that.” Rere knelt and hugged Herman's legs. He could only cry.

”Are you satisfied with destroying my family?” Rere is angry with Angga. Her family gave them time to talk.

”Why are you angry Re? You should be happy that I dared to come to her face take responsibility.”

”Did I ask for it?” Ree wiped her tears.

”Get out of here,” said Rere gently. ”Leon and I have been living a quiet life. Now you come and ruin everything. The wound just healed but you made my parents hurt again. What do you want? Don't you understand human language? I don't want to go back with you. We're done Angga. Please don't come near me again.”

”Re...”

Rere threw her hands in the air. She didn't want to talk to Angga anymore. There's nothing more to talk about.

”Okay Re. I'll go if that's what you want.”

Rere ignores Angga, pretending that the man never existed. The woman returned to the room and called Gesa. They had met at the mall some time ago. Gesa fled after recovering from depression. Gesa didn't want to trouble Bara and Rere again. Rere was in danger because of her. Gesa doesn't want to put those closest to her in danger.

”Hello Re,” said Gesa friendly.

”Where are you?”

”Home. Why?”
