Chapter 39: Active Devotee Showing Her Smile 1 (2/2)

So, he still hadn’t noticed.

“However, I am outnumbered by the enemies. I am still too weak working alone... Then I heard about you! I know you can kill all the Killing Ghosts, right?!”

“So, can you be my companion?” He lowered his head and reached out his hand to me sincerely.

But I only raised my head and asked,

“Then, why were you laughing?”

“... What?”

“When you were talking about your story.” He, being a bit confused, raised his head to look at me. I only pointed at his face and said again,

“You were laughing, the whole time.”

“Wh... What?!” He was frozen.

“You said... I was laughing?” I drew out my military knife immediately, but I didn’t attack him. In stead, I only put the knife in his hand which had been reached out to me.

He saw the reflection by the moonlight of his smiling face on the knife.

That smile was filled with craziness, excitement and joy of satisfaction. An iconic smile of a Killing Ghost.

After that, he covered his face miserably and said in a trembling voice,

“Ah... Why would it be like this... I finally ended up like those ugly ghosts...” He suddenly grasped the blade with his left hand fiercely and held the handle with his right hand while biting his lips. When he raised his head again, I saw determination in his eyes.

I lifted my dress and took out another knife.

Death was the only thing he wanted for.

I would give him that.

I transformed into the ghost shape while walking toward him. After he was within the range of my attack, I jumped forward with all my strength and slashed toward him.

As my blade was about to touch him, he suddenly threw away the knife in his hand and jumped backward with open arms, giving up resistance in a very comfortable posture.

“The most splendid moment of my life should be killing someone or...” Having paused for a moment, I caught that bloodstained knife reflectively and brandished the two knives in my hands to attack him.

I gave him seven horizontal cuts and six vertical cuts in the fastest speed and the shortest time interval.

“Being killed!” There were cracks showing on the his skin. I had already finished cutting him, but his body hadn’t realized that he had been cut.

“It’s such a shame... I’ll wait you on the other side...” He turned his head to the right. Maybe he wanted to look at me for the last time.

But he was unable to do that, since his eyeballs had already been cut into two pieces.

Blood started to ooze out from those straight cuts. And every pieces of his flesh couldn’t hold together.

“I hope you... never die...” His body exploded all of a sudden. His blood, flesh and everything that showed that he had used to be a human all scattered on the ground.

Under the moonlight, my hands were completely red.

The air beside the handrail was filled with the smell of the blood.
