”Doctor Chen, how long before he wakes up?” In the ward, Chu Yu looked at the person on the bed worriedly.

It had been five days since the surgery, but Chu Jingnian still showed no signs of waking up. The tubes on his body had already changed once, but his eyes were still closed.

”Logically speaking, you should have woken up the next day, but... We've suspected an overdose of anesthesia, but the patient's vital signs are normal, so we can only wait and see... ” The doctor muttered to himself for a moment, then bent down and continued to examine Chu Jingnian's body.

He took a thin needle and lightly pricked the back of his hand. With his eyes closed and a pained expression on his face, he frowned slightly. His hand seemed to be subconsciously trying to dodge but couldn't.

Chu Yu sat down on a chair beside the sickbed, and reached out to grab Chu Jingnian's hand to help him move his knuckles and wrist.

These two days, the nurse would always come to the ward and help him turn over on time, just in case he had pressure sores. Every time she did that, Chu Yu would be on the side carrying a bunch of tubes off of him anxiously.

A slightly disgruntled voice sounded out. What responded to her was the sound of the electrocardiogram monitoring her, while the man on the sickbed remained motionless.

She sighed helplessly as she looked out the window. Behind the residential building was a lush and verdant forest. A big tree was sprouting outside the window.

When he lifted the kettle, there was no more water in it. Worried that Chu Jingnian would be thirsty after waking up, she carried her water canteen out of the ward and went to the end of the corridor to draw water.

The facilities of this building were rather simple and crude. There was no water dispenser inside the ward, so he had to go outside to the boiling water room to get hot water.

Standing in groups of two or three behind the crowd, Chu Yu tiptoed forward, but was unable to squeeze through.

Suddenly, a large hand snatched the kettle from her hands and stepped forward. Before she could see clearly, she was pushed out of the way by the crowd and had no choice but to step out and wait outside.

Amongst the crowd, the man was dressed in a well-groomed suit. He was slightly bent over to catch the water. The expensive suit and the biting cold atmosphere made him seem out of place to the people around him.

When the water was full, the man stood up and swept his ice-cold gaze over the people around him. The bustling scene immediately became much quieter, and the crowded crowd even opened up a path for him.

”Item... Xiang Qicheng? ” Chu Yu shouted in surprise when he clearly saw the man's figure.

A few days ago, he had been on a business trip with an important matter at an overseas branch, and would probably need a month to return. Chu Yu, on the other hand, was afraid that he might be distracted and did not call him back, but unexpectedly, the man who was supposed to be in Australia suddenly appeared in front of him.
