27 Were Family (1/2)
Theodore was about to sit with Rose, Icy and his Mom before he just decided to stand by the door and just watch.
Cara had Rose sat down on her lap while she brushed her thin shot blond hair with the soft bristles of a little pink brush.
Rose was doing the same as she brushed Icy's fur.
Cara's face had the blissful smile of a proud mother with a bright and caring glint in her eyes.
Building a house with her husband had indeed distracted her from the thought of her son ignoring her calls and not bothering to check-in on them as he uses to but a faint emptiness was there.
It's the same for Mark, he has also missed the regular updates that they used always get from Theodore which would be at least once a week.
Mark and Cara had been waiting patiently for the day Theodore would visit with his new family although the family is missing a member it is nonetheless a joyous occasion.
Theodore went into the kitchen and looked through the fridge and freezer before getting himself a glass of water.
Theodore asked what his parents want most ”So mom, I was wondering if we could stay the night”
”Really, you want to stay? Of course it just so happens that we have a spare room that has a large bed and a cot” Said Cara excitedly
”Great, I saw some leftover ham with its bone in the fridge, by any chance can you make Irish Hearty Ham Soup for dinner? I've tried cooking it before but it never turns out how you make it,” Asked Theodore
”I'd love to,” Said, Cara with watery eyes.
The simple request that seemed like nothing gave her that warm feeling of being needed once again by her son.
Theodore knew that the one thing his parents wanted most was that feeling of parenting.
Time passed quickly as they had a small lunch put Rose down for a nap before Mark finally decided to bring up Theodore's stream.
”Hey, Cara read this, who would have thought that our son would become a ladies man,” Said Mark while showing Cara his phone with a screenshot of the stream.
”Theo, who are these women?” Said Cara after reading the thirsty chat messages
'What the fuck dad, are you trying to kill me' Thought Theodore while starting at his dad in shock to which Mark replied with a chuckle and a shrug.
”It's just my job mom. No, not in that sense. Umm, I'm a streamer, people get to watch me live while I entertain them with magic, stories etcetera. Really, mom, there is nothing sexual involved” Said Theodore in a flustered tone
Cara gave an understanding nod before saying ”Can you explain why a lot of them are calling you 'daddy' and the use of the emojis?”
”It's just a joke mom don't take it seriously,” Said Theodore while avoiding eye contact.
”They call him daddy because Theo is the All-Mighty Dad hahaha. Sorry give me a minute hahaha *Cough* Now the emoji is something I have done research on. Ahem okay, the cucumber ???? is the male reproductive organ, the water droplets ???? are meant to signify that the lady commenting is 'ready' for the cucumber per se. The tongue ???? is self-explanatory while the peach ???? is the rear end of the human biology and the melons ???? well I think even you know it” Said, Mark with a tone that resembles that of a scholar
”And how exactly do you know about this?” Asked Cara with a small vain bulging from her forehead
”Did you forget I'm an investigator it's my job to know cryptic messages like this” Said Mark proudly
”So dad where are you working at at the now?” Asked Theodore
”Well, I'm working at the Beverly Hills police department as the chief investigator currently taking week break,” Said Mark
”That's great! What about your mom, anything new happened?” Asked Theodore
”After you left home I took a class on law and sat the bar exam in 2018. And now I work at a small law firm called Jephson Law” Said Cara
Theodore stared at his mom with wide eyes and his mouth open.
”Shocking, right? From housewife to a promising lawyer. She's even making more than me. I can't be any prouder” Said, Mark before giving Cara a bright smile
”Any interesting clients?” Asked Theodore eagerly
”Nah mostly just called on to look over contracts. I did have a weird case where women were pressing r*pe charges” Said Cara
”what's weird about that?” Asked Theodore confusedly
”Sigh, the r*pe happened in her dream. The case was odd as it had occurred before with the women actually winning and sending an innocent man into prison. I was still fairly new to the scene and had no understanding of the mind games portion of the trial but after discussing it with some co-workers I managed to pull through and win the case for the accused man” Said Cara
”That really happened?” Asked Theodore in a shocked tone
”Yeah, and there's plenty of similar fake r*pe cases every year,” Said Cara with a disappointed tone
”That's really sad truthfully. What about you dad any interesting cases?” Asked Theodore
”Well, just a thief who has a weird sense of humour. The papers are calling him The House Flipper. The thief likes to put everything upside-down, from little thing like like salt shaker to beds and couches, ” Said, Mark
”Hmm anything else to go on, cause it sounds like its a group of thieves,” Said Theodore
