Chapter 386 - Petitions to Remove QL Group (1/2)

The moment Li Qin Yao arrived at the QL Group headquarters, she immediately went into her grandfather's office. As she waited for the elevator to arrive, Li Mu Bai came over and stood beside her. The two exchanged a look and smiled before they stepped into the elevator.

Once the door shut, Li Mu Bai turned around and spoke, ”Li Mu Chen will be on trial next month. At this moment, my father is looking after her and she will not be allowed to leave the house.”

”Un. I've heard.”

”Yao Yao,” Li Mu Bai hesitated. ”I'm sorry. My family… I don't know why they continuously tried to hurt you. I know that whatever I say will not ease the pain you have gone through. I know that you won't be able to forgive Mu Chen for what she did but I still wanted to say I'm sorry.”

Li Qin Yao's gaze softened as she heard his words.

Previously, Li Mu Bai had given almost the same speech when his mother's scheme was brought up and now he had come to see her again to apologize for what his sister had done.

Li Qin Yao knew that Li Mu Bai was embarrassed to see her after what had happened. However, he could not avoid meeting her.

”Li Mu Bai, you don't have to apologize on your mother or your sister's behalf,” she smiled at him and lowered her gaze. ”They are ȧduŀts who should know what they did was wrong. You are not responsible for their wrongdoings, but they are. I won't say that I will forgive Mu Chen or say that I understand why she did those things. I just hope that she can change and when she came out from prison, she will turn over a new leaf and stop bothering me. I won't care about whatever she wanted to do as long as she leaves me and my family alone.”

Li Mu Bai listened to her words and found that he could not come up with anything to say.

But as a brother and a son, Li Mu Bai thought that he was partly responsible. If it was not for him, perhaps his mother would not choose that path. If he paid more attention to his sister and found out earlier of what she was trying to do, then perhaps Li Mu Chen would be where she was.

The elevator door slid open and the two of them walked side by side as they head over to the Chairman's office.

Li Mu Bai knocked on the door and the cousins entered the room only to find that their grandfather was on the phone with a deep frown on his face.

Whoever was on the other line and whatever it was that they were discussing, the cousins could guess that it was not something pleasant.

After a while, Li Ren Xin ended the call with a long sigh and looked up at his grandchildren. A guilty expression appeared on his face as he turned to his granddaughter, however, Li Qin Yao chose to pretend that she did not understand the look on his face.

She could guess what was on her grandfather's mind at the moment. However, she had no intention to let him know that she had overheard his conversation with Li Mu Chen the other day.

”Grandfather,” Li Qin Yao smiled. ”What's wrong?

Li Ren Xin coughed dryly and looked away.

Li Qin Yao thought about the letter in her bag and hesitated for a few seconds. Then, she walked over to her grandfather and placed the white envelope on his table.

”Yao Yao, what is this?” Li Ren Xin knew exactly what was in the letter, but could not help but ask.

”You're… resigning?” Li Mu Bai asked.

”Un,” Li Qin Yao nodded slowly. ”Although most of the investors had their trust in me and wanted me to continue until the end, I don't think that I can work on it. If I stayed as the person in charge, we might lose potential buyers. I don't want to let the shareholders lose their money because of me.”

”Yao Yao, you worked on the project from the beginning,” Li Mu Bai said. ”Won't you regret it?”
