Chapter 137 - At the Same Place Ten Years Ago (1/2)

When Li Qin Yao returned home with a bag of meat buns, she was shocked upon seeing that Zhang Yu Han was standing on a chair, changing the bulb in the dining area.

Li Qin Yao changed her shoes into slippers and gave Zhang Yu Han a questioning look.

However, Zhang Yu Han merely smiled at her before he instructed switch on the light to test whether the light was now working.

Seeing that the light that has been out for a month had now worked, Li Qin Yao turned to her boyfriend again and was about to ask him questions. But this time, her mother came out of the kitchen with a bowl of sweet and sour fish.

Xu Yilan tilted her head up to look at the functioning light. Then, she turned to Zhang Yu Han and said. ”It's good that you're tall. We don't have stairs here and the maintenance guy took forever to come.” Xu Yilan eyed the bag in her daughter's hand and said, ”You brought back Uncle Wu's meat buns?”

Li Qin Yao stared at her mother with her eyes wide. ”Didn't you tell me that you're craving for it?”

Xu Yilan cleared her throat. They both knew that it was merely an excuse so that her daughter will leave the house while she talked to Zhang Yu Han. Xu Yilan did not expect that her daughter would really buy back those meat buns.

”Go put them on a plate and bring them out,” Xu Yilan said.

”Oh.” Li Qin Yao nodded. She glanced at Zhang Yu Han before she walked into the kitchen. She grabbed a plate and waited for her mother to come back to fetch another dish. When Xu Yilan appeared, Li Qin Yao looked at her mother with and smiled.

”What is it?” Xu Yilan suppressed her laugh as she watched the way her daughter was clinging to her. ”If you're so free, then help me to get those dishes out.”

”Ma, what did you talk to Yu Han just now? How come it's over so soon?” Li Qin Yao spoke in a low voice. Because their house was not that big and Li Qin Yao was worried that Zhang Yu Han might overhear their conversation.

She had thought that she could stand behind the door and eavesdrop a little bit when she returned, but it seemed that the two of them had finished their conversation.

”Then would you like me to grill him a little bit longer?”

Li Qin Yao pouted. ”That's not what I meant.”

”Then what is it?” Xu Yilan decided to play dumb.

Li Qin Yao stood in front of her mother and looked at her in the eyes. ”What did you two talk about when I was not around?”

”Hmm,” Xu Yilan turned and pretended that she was thinking about their previous conversation. ”Of course we talked about you.” Xu Yilan let out a soft laugh. ”I only warned him not to hurt you or else, I'll be coming for his life. Of course, I couldn't let you be around or else, you would choose to side with your boyfriend.”

Seeing that her daughter was about to say another word of protest, Xu Yilan turned to pick up a bowl of a dish and passed it to her daughter. ”Stop talking. We should eat soon. The two of you still need to head over to the airport later, right?”

Li Qin Yao glanced at the clock and immediately walked out of the kitchen carrying a plate of stir-fried vegetables.

The three of them ate their lunch while Xu Yilan would occasionally ask Zhang Yu Han about his work.

Li Qin Yao continued to watch her mother suspiciously. She did not know when did her mother had an interest in the hotel industry. Li Qin Yao thought that the two of them could have a conversation about business and hotel industries forever. Meanwhile, it looked as if the two of them had forgotten about her presence.

Just as she was silently sulking about the two lack of attention towards her, a piece of sweet and sour fish dropped into her plate. Li Qin Yao looked up and met Zhang Yu Han's gaze. Seeing the gentle look on his eyes, Li Qin Yao lowered her head and continued to eat silently.

Once lunch was over, Xu Yilan had declined her daughter's offer to help her with the dishes. Because she hasn't packed up her toiletries and some other stuff, Li Qin Yao went back to her room first.

Li Qin Yao picked up a few stuff that she might need in her trip and finally, closed her luggage. When she looked up again, she found Zhang Yu Han standing at the door, looking at her.
