Chapter 16 (1/2)
For a while I was eating and resting well.
Fortunately, no additional nosebleeds or bleeding occurred since then. I didn’t have a headache and my fever subsided. The body was light and the mind was fresh. The sentences I read sometimes weren’t really something to worry about.
No one else came to visit me while I was sick. Even though I come from a humble family and have no presence in the dukedom, I’m still a Duchess. I felt bitter for no reason.
‘It’s not bothersome so it’s good.’
I decided to think positively.
Rashid has visited me one more time since.
“Are you feeling alright today?”
He asked in a somewhat softened tone compared to before. The energy of contempt, which was wrapped like a blade, also faded, making it easier to treat him. I don’t know what wind brought about this change, but it was a relief for me.
“Yes…it’s great. The weather is good, the meals are good, my body is in good shape. Everything is good.”
It was a little embarrassing because it was the first meeting after having a nosebleed. I keep avoiding his eyes because I don’t know what to look at right away.
“Are you relieved of your anger?”
“Yes, well…”
He showed signs and I followed suit and nodded my head.
“Nosebleed.”
“…that’s also…yes.”
Rashid smirked. The curve with a twisted mouth was smooth, but it seemed to me to be just laughing. Can you laugh when your wife is sick?
I put my head on it and pretended to be sick.
I must decide how I want to live in the future. I have to clear up the situation as soon as possible, but at what timing? What I say and how to say it. Rashid’s response to my request was hardly predictable.
To imagine…
Q. Find the response of the Duke of Penvernon, who was asked to part from the scarecrow wife.
