Chapter 53: Movies
In a society that placed enormous values on physical appearances, it was only natural that a great beauty like An Wen was well-received by the public. Not only did she overcome the rumor about her plastic surgery, but the numbers of her fans had also grown to a large extent.
Moreover, some online merchants even took advantage of her immense popularity to sell clothes similar to An Wen’s style on trending searches. Their products sold like hotcakes.
On that same night, Song Jia received several phone calls from different advertising companies, all thanks to An Wen’s influence on the consumers. That evening’s episode of “My Desired Prince” received a TV rating higher than 1.0, a breakthrough for this variety show. The updated results on video software also showed a spike in views over ninety million. Its ranking on the trending searches also constantly attracted new netizens to check out the show.
This variety show undoubtedly displayed An Wen’s popularity and the web traffic she was capable of bringing. Soon, numerous other producers also tried to invite her to their variety shows.
Song Jia did not have high expectations for “Flower Falls in Chang’an.” An Wen’s debut performance was the supporting female lead in Ye Qiaofeng’s drama. This alone had already set her up well in her career. It would not come as a surprise if she did not cast in “Flower Falls in Chang’an” seeing as even some veteran actors failed to participate in such a big-scale production.
Song Jia selected a few scripts for An Wen to read through. Initially, An Wen was browsing through casually, but she was quickly attracted to a particular screenplay.
The movie “Do You Remember?” was to be directed by Wu Yan, who won the Golden Bull Award for Best Newcomer. This script was original and touching, so much so that An Wen was moved to tears after reading the script.
The movie focused on Xiao Ying, a 30-year-old who had accidentally traveled back in time to her sophomore year in high school. She wanted a change from her previous life, so she excelled in her studies and broke up with Chen Lin, her childhood best friend and husband from her past life, with the intention of leading a completely different life.
Gradually, she began to learn things that she did not know from her past life. Her bicycle was not sold to her by the owner at half price, instead, it had been paid in half by Chen Lin using his hard-earned money; whenever she was the student on duty, the blackboard was always spotless in the morning because Chen Lin had helped her to clean it in advance; the time he got his nose bloody and his face swollen was not out of a fight, instead, he had been hit by her father when he went to her house to mediate a fight.
Xiao Ying came from a family of four. Both her parents were workers and she had a younger brother. Her mother was not well-educated, while her father was really ill-tempered. He would come home from a terrible day and lash it out on the three of them. As a result, Xiao Ying had been covered in cuts and bruises since her childhood.
