Chapter 40 (1/2)
Chapter 40: Criticized
“An Wen, look at what Lu Maner posted on Weibo. Some people are already scolding you online because of that.” Jiang Shiyu simply wanted to scroll through Weibo for a while, but she had never expected to see that An Wen’s official page was a complete mess now.
The other girl glanced at it before she asked, “Where’s Lu Maner?”
“She said that she was unwell and went back to the hotel. Do you want me to go over and look for her?” Jiang Shiyu asked.
“There’s no need. She left before the end of the filming banquet because she was afraid that I’d ask her about this in front of everyone. Lu Maner might retaliate if you go looking for her. She might even make matters worse when that happens.”
“What are we supposed to do now, An Wen?” Jiang Shiyu asked.
“I’m not popular and I don’t have any representative work. She’s trying to use her popularity to ruin my reputation, but it’s completely impossible for me to fight back. Furthermore, she didn’t mention my name in her Weibo post at all. If I step forward and refute her accusations, it will seem like I was guilty all along,” An Wen said once she had analyzed everything.
“An Wen, I understand what you’re trying to say. However, you’ve just debuted, but you’re already labeled as someone who did plastic surgery and has a financial backer. Once the general public has this impression of you, your reputation is going to be completely ruined.” Jiang Shiyu anxiously said, “You don’t even have a public relations manager because you haven’t signed a contract with the company. Whatever, I’m going to contact them for you now.”
“Don’t go!” An Wen held her back and said, “We have to wait for them to come looking for me.”
“Who’s going to come looking for you once your reputation is ruined?”
“I can’t openly fight back this time, but I can still stand up to her in a non-confrontational way. Perhaps I won’t be able to undo the damage completely, but it’s better than causing bloodshed.” An Wen held her phone while a stern look faintly appeared in her gaze.
However, she would need to trouble her fans now.
“I’m going to sing a song for everyone,” An Wen suddenly said as she stood up.
As he was slightly drunk, Xia Wei was dragging Cheng Hanwen around and awkwardly dancing. When he heard what An Wen had said, he clapped his hands and replied, “Lil Sis An, go for it!”
Everyone else was cheering with him because they were all in good spirits at the banquet.
An Wen borrowed a guitar from the band before she sat on the stage and started playing the instrument while singing. The crowd quietened down and watched her while she sang in a gentle and touching voice. The beautiful young woman in a white dress sounded like she was pouring out the grievances from her heart when she sang emotionally. When the lights shined on her, it seemed like her entire body had lit up.
