Chapter 18 - Assassins (III) (2/2)

This was the teaching of the leader of Chronos to all of his members. right now, the assassin was remembering all those things. if he had listened to what the leader of Chronos had said instead of taking that damn mission without making any ample preparations on his own rather than only goes by the information the employee had provided, he wouldn't have lost his subordinates as well as running for his life like a dog.

However, it was too late for regret, all he could do now was to do his hardest to survive. he knew that his opponent was formidable, so he ran away with all his might.

The moment when he thought he was safe after running more than ten minutes which a good distance away from Shad, Shad's lazy voice suddenly rang out from behind him: ” you think you could escape?”

within his body, faint white light can be seen as the bolts of lightning was running through his veins making visible to naked eyes. the white lines pattern extend from his eyes to his toes.

his heartbeat was increasing rapidly, almost at least five times the normal heartbeat as he was running faster and faster closing the distance tween him and the escaped assassin.

It was as if he was in shock due to the electricity pumping through his nerves and was able to easily traverse the sky under the moonlight as if the distance was not a hindrance to him, with a few more steps, he easily caught up to to the escaped assassin.

Even though the assassin was very fast, he was far lacking compared to Shad. without taking into consideration him able to channel electricity through his body which makes him a lot faster than any 5th class warriors.

He had tempered his body with lightning as well as running more than twenty kilometers every day with weight on his body while training on the mountains for two years. So even without the use of lightning in his body, he would still able to catch up to the assassin.

The assassin was scared out of his wits when he saw Shad get right behind him with such ease. He unleashed a slash with his knife as fast as lightning towards Shad, but he easily evaded it.

At the same time, he made a fist with his right hand.

~bang~

Shad's fist landed on the assassin's chest. the chest of the assassin shook violently as he flew fifty feet away from the top of the house he was running and landed on the street, creating a deep pit on street.

” Ahh!”

feeling the pain from his chest, the assassin painfully grimaced. the crisp sounds of bones breaking appeared. this punch had destroyed numerous bones in his body as his stomach showed sign of caving in, leaving him with only a thread of his life. he wanted to stand up but discovered that he didn't have the strength to do so.

” it seems that armor of yours is only able to reduce the damage of an elemental attack, not a physical one, and also there is a limit to it,” said Shad with a shallow smile on his face.

The most terrifying thing was that Shad was slowly walking towards him. when every step fell, his heart would violently shake once. it was as if it wasn't Shad's steps but the god of death's.

Nevertheless, the assassin channeled every ounce of his battle qi through his body while gritting his teeth and turned into smoke yet again to escape with his top speed.

” what happened?” the assassin slamming down into the streets had alarmed many bystanders. they came out to see what was going on and noticed the chase.

Seeing the masked men in black clothing, someone instantly recognized the mask” That's.... an assassin from the Chronos Guild, right?”

Many people were in disbelief while watching the scene. the assassins from Chronos guild were very famous and also know as the strongest assassin Guild throughout the continent. they have a bunch of strong assassins within their ranks, and their success rate was at least 96%.

Yet today, they saw one of them running for his life like a stray dog while being hunted down by someone, not any one of them but a silver level one as he was wearing a silver mask. who would believe such tale?

while many people were astonished by this scene, Shad already caught up again with the assassin. this time instead of punching him, Shad took out a small knife from his magic pouch. with a cold glint, Shad pierced the knife straight towards the assassin's back.

The stab was too fast that the assassin did not have time to react. the knife pierced through the armor as though it was some sort of rubber. he fell down with his blood stained the ground.

Even being stabbed, he was still alive. he vomited a mouthful of blood while laying on the ground. his face was facing the sky with a pale expression while his eyes were radiating a will to live.

his legs shivered from fear while his heart-thumpingly told him to escape otherwise, it truly was going to be the end for him. the assassin knew that he had provoked a grim reaper. he had truly regretted taking that mission but it was too late now.

” please spar.....”

Shad was too lazy to listen to the assassin's drivel. he slashed his neck with the bloody knife on his hand before he disappeared within the night like a shadow, leaving the bystanders pale in horror after seeing this scene.
