Chapter 16 - Assassins (I) (1/2)
After exiting the Monalisa and inn, Shad did not go home but walked around in the populace district.
It was not that Shad could not afford to pay for a carriage to transport him where he was going, It was only that he preferred walking with his own two legs.
As an assassin, he subconsciously feels truly safe when walking rather than using a carriage or any other type of transportation device.
After his reincarnation in this new world, Shad had subconsciously developed this new mindset where his own fate must rest within his own hand no matter the occasion.
This was a feeling he could not overlook, as it would make him feel like he was being controlled or manipulated by a greater force. Even though using a carriage to travel in a big city can get him done things faster and a less amount of time, he still would not use it. As it would cause some uncomfortable feelings to arise within him as though someone else was in control, which is why he won't use it unless he was going somewhere really far that required him to do so.
It was something that he hates more than anything, being manipulated. he likes to be in control and His own fate must rest within his own hands.
After a few hours of walking in the populace district and hopping from one shop to another, he had accomplished everything he was supposed to do.
By this time, the sky slowly became dark as the sun slowly faded away. the shadow of the night was like a devouring beast as it consumed the last bit of sunlight and engulfed the whole world with darkness.
At this time, his appearances had already changed of that of the fourth prince, he was wearing a small bamboo hat and was making his way to the rendezvous point.
However before he could even make it there, he felt like he was being followed.
' they have already found me before I can even make it the location I gave Monalissa. they truly deserve the rank of silver level assassins.' thought Shad as his continued walking as though there was nothing suspicious.
Shad did not know how many people were following him. Even though it was night, the entire capital was lighting up as there were magical lamps in every houses and shop. Not only that, there was a lot of people walking around as well. while they might not know his identities because the bamboo hat that covered his face, the people that were following him surely does.
As of now, Shad found himself becoming very interested in the people that were secretly following him. Even though some of them might be stronger than him in terms of rank, his spiritual force had already vastly surpassed most 5th class mage.
Shad stood for a few seconds as he looked at his surroundings, there was this shallow smile on his face as though he was a cat that was about to play some hide and seek game with a group rats from the sewer.
After a few seconds, he continued making his way to the populace district. From the external point of view, Shad seemed to be walking aimlessly. However, his spiritual force was spread out, coordinating his every action.
Even though his movement or speed was not fast, anyone who was following would realize that each change of direction and each movement forward or backward that he made was one that was completely unexpected and would catch them off guard.
If the assassins that were following him were just a bunch of newbies, they would have lost sight of him a long time ago. However, they did not which proved that they were a bunch of capable individuals.
Still, it did not bother Shad in the slightest that he could not shake them off because his aim was not to shake them off but to find out how many assassins were after him and he had just accomplished that.
Truthfully, the assassins that were following him had already cried out bitterly to the point of vomiting blood. When they saw the assassination request in the Chronos Organization, they had accepted that mission in a heartbeat.
